PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Doom (ranked 5672 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Armstrong (ranked 5766 p4p, 0 weight class). Lucas Armstrong told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Lucas Armstrong!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Sandra Marshall and Winston Alpacca.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doom closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Armstrong is fighting off a takedown attempt but Doom is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Armstrong to the mat. Armstrong regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Armstrong doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Doom counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Doom is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Doom has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Armstrong tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Jay Doom overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Doom lands a couple of good shots and Armstrong has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Armstrong is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Doom is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Doom gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Doom gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Doom apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Doom has hold of one of Armstrong's legs. Armstrong is fighting the takedown attempt but Doom gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Doom feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, if Doom is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Doom looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Armstrong with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Well Doom has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Jay Doom rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
