PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Franchise (ranked 2807 p4p, 319 weight class) and Brandon Stark (ranked 2601 p4p, 301 weight class). Franchise's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Microphone Fiend- Rage Against the Machine. Stevie Franchise has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stevie Franchise!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Stark!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stark loads up on a big right hand but Franchise slips the punch.
A little feinted left hand from Franchise on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Stark throws a combination that misses
and Franchise connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Some bone on bone action there as Stark checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Stark throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Franchise tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Stark is in Franchise's guard.
Stark stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Franchise swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stark prevents Franchise from getting back to his feet.
Stark forces his way into half guard.
Stark wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franchise keeps working.
Stark missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Stark in particular looking to stall.
Stark works his foot free and advances to mount.

Stark throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Franchise drops his hands momentarily and Stark takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Stark closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Franchise quickly recovers to half guard.
Franchise is looking to escape.
Franchise is staying active underneath Stark, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Franchise wants to get back to his feet.

Stark is looking to take a break and control but Franchise is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Franchise wants to get back to his feet.
Stark wants to advance to full mount but Franchise doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Franchise avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Stark passes Franchise's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Stark wants to pass the guard but Franchise is defending well.

Franchise fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Franchise counters with a right hand to the body.

and Franchise counters with a nice uppercut.
Franchise throws a hook but Stark avoids it easily.
Franchise waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Stark.

Franchise digs a good hook to Stark's body.
Stark throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
It looked like Franchise was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Franchise takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Franchise lands a head shot.

Stark takes the fight into the clinch.

Stark jumps guard.

Stark is working an open guard so Franchise takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Stark throws a lazy uppercut
and Franchise counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A telegraphed right hand from Stark misses the target.
As Stark looks to move away, Franchise throws a big counter combo but Stark just gets out of the way.

The fighters circling - Franchise throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Stark is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Franchise to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Franchise shrugs it off.

Stark is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Franchise is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Franchise flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Stark anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Franchise and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Stark slips an arm under Franchise chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Stark has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Stark is squeezing on Franchise like an anaconda would it's prey. Franchise fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
