The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Rosa fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Abbate throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as De La Rosa stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Abbate follows into mount!
It looks like Joe De La Rosa has been cut.
De La Rosa is working to get back to half guard.
De La Rosa is working hard here to advance position.
Abbate looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Abbate is looking to work his way around to De La Rosa's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
De La Rosa wants to hold on but Abbate pushes him away.
Abbate tries to control but De La Rosa wriggling away.

De La Rosa is looking to sinch up a triangle. Abbate throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to De La Rosa's body to avoid the submission. De La Rosa has instead reached around Abbate's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! De La Rosa arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
