Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Snowdon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Lugg! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lugg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Snowdon as he jumps to the side. Nice takedown defense from Snowdon. No joy for Lugg on that attempt. Snowdon with a jab. Snowdon swings for the body but Lugg moves out of range.
Lugg fails with a takedown attempt. William Snowdon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Lugg. Snowdon defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lugg. Snowdon connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Snowdon connects with a body shot. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lugg slips a straight right by Snowdon. Snowdon misses with a looping left. Lugg feints the counter takedown. Lugg has his takedown stuffed and Snowdon counters by moving into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lugg goes for a takedown attempt but Snowdon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Snowdon closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Snowdon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Snowdon lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Snowdon lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Snowdon will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lugg looks for a takedown but Snowdon sprawls well. Lugg uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Snowdon. Lugg drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Snowdon defends it well. Lugg fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Snowdon fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Snowdon dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Lugg on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
William Snowdon is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Snowdon ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lugg moves away. Snowdon throws out a powerful jab. Snowdon is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Snowdon listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Snowdon scores with a jab to the body. Snowdon scores with a hook to the body. Lugg takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Snowdon throws a right and a left that both miss. Snowdon cracks Lugg with a good jab. Lugg tries to move into range but Snowdon moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Snowdon moves into range and connects with a jab. Lugg slips a jab from Snowdon. Snowdon lands with an uppercut that bounces Lugg off the cage and back into range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lugg shoots in looking for a takedown but Snowdon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lugg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Lugg gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Snowdon counters with a lovely shot to the body. Snowdon throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lugg looks for a takedown but Snowdon sprawls well. Lugg shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Snowdon defends it nicely. Lugg misses with a takedown and Snowdon counters with a lovely straight right hand! Snowdon's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lugg under the eye. Snowdon throws a body punch but Lugg moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lugg keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lugg changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Snowdon looks to score with a jab to the body but Lugg is just out of range. Snowdon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lugg manages to avoid it. Lugg feints the counter takedown. Lugg has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Lugg there as he acknowledges the shot. Snowdon is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Lugg shoots in looking for a takedown but Snowdon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Lugg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Snowdon throws a combination. Lugg tries to block but a couple of punches get through. This has been an exciting period of action! Snowdon lands a glancing blow to the side of Lugg's head. Lugg keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Snowdon. Lugg with the counter takedown but Snowdon avoids it easily. Snowdon cracks Lugg with a right hand to the side of the head. William Snowdon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Snowdon closes the distance and clinches. Snowdon lands an uppercut. Snowdon lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Lugg is rocked! Snowdon is defending well against a takedown attempt. Lugg is still on wobbly legs! Can Snowdon finish him? With the fighters clinched against the cage, Snowdon creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. A shot in the inside from Snowdon. Snowdon lands with a short punch from the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
William Snowdon dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Lugg gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Snowdon gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
