Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Maximus Ukkeli (ranked 14681 p4p, 268 weight class) and Shane Ripgut (ranked 3919 p4p, 81 weight class). Ripgut comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eminence front-the who kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Ripgut!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ukkeli misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ukkeli misses the shot to the body.
Ukkeli throws a quick inside leg kick.
Ukkeli falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ripgut counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ukkeli with a nice cross.
Ukkeli misses with a looping left.
Ripgut looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Ukkeli scores with a jab. Ripgut acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ripgut counters with a stiff right hand.


It looks like Maximus Ukkeli has been cut.
Ukkeli takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
The fighters circling - Ukkeli throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ukkeli misses with a body kick.
And Ripgut responds with a good body kick, but Ukkeli manages to step out the way in time.
Ukkeli has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Jed's Gym in the buildup to the fight.

Ripgut unleashes a big counter combination but Ukkeli bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
A jab from Ukkeli finds it's way through Ripgut's defenses.
Ukkeli throws an off balance right hand
and Ripgut cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Maximus Ukkeli seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ukkeli moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Ukkeli looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Ripgut swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Ukkeli tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Ripgut is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Ukkeli throws a nice outside leg kick.
Good leg kick by Ukkeli there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Ukkeli misses with a head kick.
Ripgut throws a fast counter high kick but Ukkeli manages to duck under it in time.

Nice uppercut lands for Ukkeli. That snapped Ripgut's head back.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ukkeli.

Ripgut has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Ukkeli connects with a jab.
Ripgut bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Ripgut is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Ukkeli throws out a leg kick but Ripgut moves out of range and Ukkeli only half commits.
Ukkeli misses with a hook. Ripgut ducked under it nicely.

Ripgut avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A nice side step and Ripgut releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

It looks like Shane Ripgut has been cut.
Ukkeli swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Ripgut throws a fast counter high kick but Ukkeli manages to duck under it in time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maximus Ukkeli dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Ukkeli lands with a kick to the temple. Ripgut shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ukkeli is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Ripgut walks straight into devastating uppercut and drops to the floor, clearly wobbled! Can he beat the count? 4,5,6,7... he's up! And he's down again! The ref steps in and calls an end to the fight! What a punch that was!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Maximus Ukkeli!
An out of breath Maximus Ukkeli thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
In defeat, Shane Ripgut stepped up to the mic, saying 'Son of a B%$*& cant win em all '.
