Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Carson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, h joe! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! joe shoots in and drives through. Carson sprawls well. Carson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming joe to the mat! joe manages to get full guard. joe has his foot on Carson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carson works his way back into a safe position though. joe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Carson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. joe is keeping the position for now. joe is looking for a triangle but Carson pushes his legs off easily.

No! joe has escaped and now he's on top! joe is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Carson tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Carson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Carson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Carson advances nicely into full mount. Carson fails to move to back control. joe is squirming around, avoiding Carson's attempts to control the action.
That's two minutes gone in the round. joe stops Carson from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better. Carson moves to take his opponent's back. joe is keeping busy.
joe is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Carson gets his way!
Carson misses with an elbow to the head. joe prevents Carson from getting a body triangle. Carson looking for the choke from the back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carson working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. joe is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Carson.
Carson is persistently looking for the submission but joe is defending it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Carson wants to lay and pray for a moment but joe keeps working. Carson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. joe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Luke Carson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Carson tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Carson moves into full mount! Carson looking for a guillotine from mount but joe is having none of it. Carson content just to control the position here. joe is trying to escape the mount but Carson keeps good control and instead manages to take joe's back.

Carson is looking to control joe but joe is wriggling around and keeping busy. Carson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. joe defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. joe tries to escape but Carson has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Carson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carson is looking for the choke from the back position but joe is controlling his hands well. joe is trapped and Carson is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Carson gets a takedown into half guard. Carson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for joe! Carson is looking to work his way around to joe's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Carson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as joe is looking to escape. Carson stands up from mount. Strange move. Carson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Carson lands in his opponent's guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. joe escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carson seems to be working for a kimura but joe defends the submission attempt. Carson wants to lay and pray for a moment but joe keeps working. joe looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. That's two minutes gone in the round. joe shoots and misses and Carson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for joe! joe bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Carson looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Is there anything that joe can do to turn this around? joe drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Carson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now joe has Carson in his guard. Carson passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Carson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. joe knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Carson prevents joe from escaping the position. joe tries to improve position but can't. Carson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but joe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carson trying to control the position but joe is working away. joe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Carson asserts his dominance and retains side control. joe is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. joe is looking to reverse the position. Carson trying to control the action but joe is working from the bottom. joe is trying to improve his position.
