Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Vasquez (ranked 8142 p4p, 649 weight class) and Besy Jyre (ranked 3564 p4p, 411 weight class). The key to victory for Vinnie Vasquez has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vinnie Vasquez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Besy Jyre! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jyre pushes Vasquez up against the cage in a clinch. Jyre manages to break the clinch.
Jyre scores with a one two! Vasquez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Vinnie Vasquez has been cut. Vasquez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Vasquez there as he acknowledges the shot. Vasquez uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jyre. Vasquez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Vasquez shoots in but Jyre avoids the takedown attempt easily. Jyre swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jyre misses with a few strikes there.
Jyre has managed to clinch.
Jyre breaks the clinch.
Jyre's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Jyre's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Jyre clinches with his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action! Jyre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Vasquez lands with an uppercut that bounces Jyre off the cage and back into range. Jyre misses the jab. Jyre jabbing away but nothing is landing. Jyre misses with a hook. Vasquez ducked under it nicely. Jyre takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jyre lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Vasquez is rocked! Vasquez blocks a jab. Vasquez went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Jyre circles away from the clinch attempt.
Vasquez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jyre as he jumps to the side. Jyre is looking for the big counter here. Jyre lands a big right hand that sends Vasquez crashing to the mat! Jyre stays standing though and waves Vasquez back to his feet! Oh Vasquez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jyre closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Jyre manages to break the clinch.
Jyre tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Vasquez seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Jyre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vasquez to the mat! Vasquez manages to get full guard. Vasquez is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Jyre dives into side control.
Jyre tries for a kimura but Vasquez is defending well. Vasquez is trying to control Jyre's posture but Jyre avoids it. Jyre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Vasquez has escaped the position, nice work there. Vasquez is being controlled here. Vasquez seems to have got his legs back now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vasquez is looking to regain half guard here but Jyre keeps moving and retains side control. Jyre decides to take the fight back to the feet. A swing and a miss from Jyre. Vasquez avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Jyre tries a head kick but it misses.
Vasquez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jyre is fending him off so far but Vasquez persists. Nope, Jyre circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinnie Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vasquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Vasquez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Vasquez checks the leg kick. Jyre misses with a body kick. Jyre misses with the combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jab, jab by Jyre - just one landing.
Vinnie Vasquez's cut is getting worse. Besy Jyre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vasquez uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jyre. Vasquez lands with a good body shot. Vasquez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jyre paws at him with a jab and circles away. Vasquez steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jyre. Jyre throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A combination from Jyre does no damage. Vasquez lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jyre at a distance.
Jyre takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Jyre throws a right hand that Vasquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Vasquez also avoids with ease. Vasquez with a lazy takedown attempt and Jyre counters by moving into the clinch. Vasquez is trying to stall.
Jyre lands a body punch in the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vasquez manages to break the clinch.
Vasquez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jyre counters by clinching up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Jyre's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Jyre fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Jyre manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vasquez on his heels. He'll look to pass Vasquez's guard now, I'm sure. Jyre won't allow Vasquez to sweep him here. Jyre with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Jyre slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jyre cracks Vasquez with a solid left hand. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Besy Jyre dominated that round. The cut man is working on Vinnie Vasquez's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
No joy there for Jyre, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Vasquez dives in and grabs Jyre's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jyre pushes down on Vasquez's head and hops out. Vinnie Vasquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jyre throws a right and a left that Vasquez avoids nicely. Jyre moves out of range of the leg kick from Vasquez. Vasquez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Jyre swivels and escapes. Vasquez dives in and grabs Jyre's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jyre pushes down on Vasquez's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinnie Vasquez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jyre connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Vinnie Vasquez's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Jyre throws a sloppy head kick and Vasquez moves out of range easily. Jyre misses with a two punch combination.
Jyre fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Jyre has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Jyre misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Vasquez.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jyre throws a series of punches but Vasquez moves out of range. Vasquez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A little jabbing left from Jyre on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Sloppy strikes from Jyre. Those never looked like landing. Vasquez tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jyre manages to circle out of the way. Vasquez fails with a takedown attempt from distance. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jyre takes the fight into the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jyre escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jyre throws a shot from downtown. Vasquez moves away and avoids it. A jab lands there for Vasquez. Vasquez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jyre as he avoids it easily. Vasquez is looking to clinch. Jyre is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Vasquez takes a body punch but keeps moving. Vasquez avoids the head kick by Jyre.
Jyre has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jyre has picked Vasquez up - he's going for a ride! Jyre dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Jyre drops an elbow to the side of Vasquez's head. Vasquez has hold of Jyre's hands but Jyre slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Vasquez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jyre on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jyre seems to be working for a kimura but Vasquez defends the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jyre looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Jyre is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Vasquez defends it well. Jyre is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Vasquez is defending against the submission attempts here by Jyre.
Jyre maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Vasquez could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Jyre has cracked it and Vasquez is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Jyre!
