Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Martin (ranked 21367 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lewis Rampage (ranked 9386 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Andrew Martin has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Andrew Martin seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Andrew Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lewis Rampage!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rampage wants to clinch up but Martin keeps it at a distance.
Rampage fails with a takedown attempt.
Rampage shoots and misses
and Martin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rampage shoots for a takedown but Martin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Andrew Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lewis Rampage.
Martin swings away with a body shot that misses

and Rampage counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Rampage postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Martin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Martin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rampage doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rampage manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Martin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rampage on the ground.

Rampage postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Martin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rampage, into his guard.

Martin is looking to pass into half guard but Rampage pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Rampage is in guard.

Rampage lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Martin wants to stand but Rampage is controlling the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rampage postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Martin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Rampage, into his guard.

Rampage has his foot on Martin's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Martin works his way back into a safe position though.
Martin is looking to stand up but Rampage won't let him.

Martin is in close to Rampage's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Martin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rampage dives on top into guard.

Rampage cracks Martin with a solid left hand.

Rampage drops back looking for a leg! Martin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Martin manages to kick Rampage off! Rampage jumps back into Martin's guard.

Martin is looking for a triangle but Rampage pushes his legs off easily.
Rampage postures up and lands a big shot to Martin's brow.
Rampage slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Martin looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Rampage gets to his feet. Martin looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Martin stuffs the takedown.
Rampage leaves Martin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rampage drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Martin defends it well.
Rampage fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andrew Martin will probably get the nod.

Rampage takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Rampage blocks a head kick by Martin.
Andrew Martin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rampage shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Martin throws a combination that misses

and Rampage counters with a takedown into side control.

Rampage is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Martin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Rampage creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Martin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Martin is not content to let Rampage control the position.

Rampage decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Martin clinches with his opponent.
Rampage just leaning against Martin, taking a breather.
Martin is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rampage to keep the fight standing.
Martin tries a knee to the head but Rampage blocks it.

Rampage pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martin wants to get up but he can't break Rampage's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rampage has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rampage can do anything to dispel that myth.

Martin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rampage is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rampage has escaped and now he's on top!

Rampage trying to control the position from guard on top but Martin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rampage throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Lewis Rampage has got the better of the ground game so far.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Martin looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Martin is looking to clinch.
Rampage lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Martin fails with a takedown attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A slow jab from Martin misses its intended target.

Rampage drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rampage landing with the ground and pound.

Martin looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rampage stands and steps away. Martin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rampage darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Martin trying to hold on to Rampage's head to control him but Rampage postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lewis Rampage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rampage connects with a nice short shot to Martin's temple.

Martin is looking to improve his position.

Rampage has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Martin defend it? Rampage steps over the head and cranks it - Martin is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Rampage!

Lewis Rampage very nearly forgot to thank Devotion Energy Inc (Laundry)(Flights) amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you.
