PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pinchi Puto (ranked 1333 p4p, 169 weight class) and Kev Wooten (ranked 1294 p4p, 165 weight class). Wooten has chosen Gods gonna cut you down- Johnny Cash as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pinchi Puto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kev Wooten!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Franklyn Lucas and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puto closes the distance and clinches.
Wooten breaks the clinch.
Wooten doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Wooten uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Puto has time to react.
It looks like Pinchi Puto has been cut.
Puto throws a lazy uppercut
and Wooten counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
A punch lands to the side of Wooten 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Wooten needs to keep his hands up - Puto had a free shot at his head there.
Puto throws out a loose jab but Wooten uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wooten defending well as Puto loads up on a big left hand.
Wooten throws out a counter right but Puto avoids it with no problem.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wooten. Puto does a little dance to reset his feet.
Puto rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Wooten counters with a straight right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A punch lands to the side of Wooten 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Pinchi Puto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wooten pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Puto misses with an uppercut
and Wooten counters with a crisp one two that drops Puto! Wooten thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Puto to his feet! Puto is in big trouble!
Puto is rocked!
Puto throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Wooten swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Oh Puto is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Puto ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Wooten moves away.
A cross from Puto lands.
Puto seems to have got his legs back now.
Wooten displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Puto throws out the jab.
Puto throws a predictable looking body shot
and Wooten counters with a nice right hand that sends Puto toppling to the canvas! Puto scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Wooten finish him?!
Wooten looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Wooten takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
BOOM! Wooten lands a beautiful left hook that drops Puto. Puto tries to recover but Wooten is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Puto lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kev Wooten!
After the big win, Kev Wooten made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors 424 Co. and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
