Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Woodley Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eleider Alvarez! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alvarez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Woodley Jr clinches with his opponent.
Woodley Jr pulls guard effortlessly. Alvarez trying to control but Woodley Jr is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alvarez is looking to work some ground and pound but Woodley Jr has wrist control. Woodley Jr controls Alvarez momentarily but Alvarez frees himself. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woodley Jr seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Alvarez trying to control the position from guard on top but Woodley Jr is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alvarez is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Alvarez prevents Woodley Jr from getting back to his feet. Alvarez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Alvarez advances position into side control! Woodley Jr tries to improve position but can't. Woodley Jr wants to get back to his feet but Alvarez drags him back down. Alvarez landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Woodley Jr is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Alvarez is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Woodley Jr on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Woodley Jr tries to get out of the position.

Woodley Jr is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Alvarez tries to control but Woodley Jr wriggling away. Woodley Jr is in all sorts of trouble here.
Alvarez avoids the attempt from Woodley Jr to control. Alvarez cracks Woodley Jr with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Alvarez raining down hammerfists from mount. Alvarez manages to capitalize on a mistake by Woodley Jr to take his back! Alvarez keeps control of the position as Woodley Jr tries to break free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Alvarez punches the canvas rather than the man. Woodley Jr is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Alvarez is hanging on to Woodley Jr's back as he tries to escape.
Alvarez lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Alvarez.
Alvarez is looking to control Woodley Jr but Woodley Jr is wriggling around and keeping busy. Alvarez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Alvarez lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Woodley Jr.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alvarez has the hooks in. Woodley Jr is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. Woodley Jr is working hard here to advance position. Woodley Jr knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Alvarez on the ground. Alvarez is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Woodley Jr. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Alvarez working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Woodley Jr is doing well to defend. Alvarez seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Woodley Jr is forced to tap and this one is over!
