Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Katsu Yamamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Peter Stevenson! The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yamamoto tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevenson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Stevenson takes one to the chin there. Stevenson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Well, if Stevenson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Yamamoto is trying to stand up here but Stevenson is controlling him well. Stevenson stalling. Yamamoto is holding on to half guard well. Yamamoto looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Stevenson controlling the action here. Yamamoto is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Stevenson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Yamamoto pushes Stevenson off and gets back to his feet. Yamamoto wants to clinch up but Stevenson keeps it at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Stevenson tries to keep at a distance but Yamamoto has taken the fight into the clinch. Stevenson breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stevenson. Yamamoto moves in looking to clinch but Stevenson pushes him off. Yamamoto throws a head kick but Stevenson moves out of range.
A jab from Stevenson misses. Stevenson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yamamoto's waist but Yamamoto gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stevenson off to one side. Yamamoto fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Stevenson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Stevenson shoots in and drives through. Yamamoto sprawls well. Katsu Yamamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Stevenson. Stevenson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yamamoto but Yamamoto pushes him off and we're back to square one. Stevenson moves away from the strike by Yamamoto.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevenson avoids the head kick by Yamamoto.
Yamamoto with a nice cross. Yamamoto wants to clinch up but Stevenson keeps it at a distance. Stevenson has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Yamamoto. Yamamoto ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Stevenson moves into the clinch successfully.
Stevenson keeps control of Yamamoto as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Yamamoto manages to break the clinch.
Stevenson feints and as Yamamoto raises his hands in defense, Stevenson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Stevenson preventing the sweep. Stevenson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Yamamoto is proving hard to escape from.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto wants to stand up but Stevenson is controlling him. Stevenson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Yamamoto's guard. Yamamoto keeping full guard, as Stevenson tries to pass. Yamamoto keeping moving, preventing Stevenson from controlling successfully.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Stevenson slips under a jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yamamoto closes the distance looking to clinch and Stevenson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Yamamoto's guard. Yamamoto seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Stevenson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Yamamoto is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stevenson, into his guard. Stevenson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Yamamoto stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stevenson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Stevenson controls Yamamoto momentarily but Yamamoto frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto wanted to stand there but Stevenson had control of the position. Stevenson wants to sweep but no luck. Stevenson has his foot on Yamamoto's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yamamoto works his way back into a safe position though. Stevenson has a closed guard, preventing Yamamoto from standing up. Stevenson pulls Yamamoto in close to his closed guard and prevents Yamamoto from doing any damage or advancing position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Yamamoto throws a head kick but Stevenson moves out of range.
Stevenson shoots in for a takedown but Yamamoto shows good takedown defense. Katsu Yamamoto is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Yamamoto looks to clinch and Stevenson counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Stevenson is looking for a kimura here.

Stevenson wants to work for an arm triangle but Yamamoto is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stevenson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Yamamoto wants to stand up but Stevenson is controlling him.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. A lazy left from Yamamoto finds it's target. Stevenson swings for the body but Yamamoto moves out of range.
Yamamoto throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Yamamoto tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Stevenson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Yamamoto is trying to keep Stevenson in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Stevenson passes Yamamoto's left leg - he's now in half guard. Stevenson not doing much here.

Peter Stevenson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Peter Stevenson has got the better of the ground game so far. Stevenson is trying desperately to improve position. Yamamoto avoids the attempt from Stevenson to control. Yamamoto wants to control the pace but Stevenson is squirming around nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yamamoto tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Stevenson tries to lock up and control but Yamamoto gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Stevenson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Stevenson missing with punches from the bottom.

Stevenson is looking to control Yamamoto's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stevenson avoid being mounted? Yamamoto wants to get back to his feet.

Yamamoto gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Yamamoto scores with a three punch combo!
Stevenson shoots for a double leg takedown but Yamamoto sprawls well. He's pushed Stevenson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Stevenson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Yamamoto! Stevenson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Yamamoto tries to hold on but Stevenson postures up. Yamamoto is working to get back to half guard.
Stevenson unloading with bombs! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yamamoto is trying desperately to improve position. Stevenson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Stevenson scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Yamamoto?
