Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Woodard! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roger Rigidy! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ron Honeybunn and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Woodard drives through with a takedown into Rigidy's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Rigidy wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Woodard throws a big elbow that misses. Woodard is looking to work some ground and pound but Rigidy has wrist control. Rigidy pushes Woodard off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Woodard has closed the distance and engaged Rigidy in a clinch.
Woodard escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Rigidy swats away the attempt to clinch by Woodard. Despite the aggression on Rigidy's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Rigidy has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Woodard is landing a low percentage of strikes. Woodard shoots in looking for a takedown. Rigidy tries to sprawl out of it but Woodard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rigidy manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rigidy fails with a takedown attempt. Woodard takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Woodard tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rigidy defends well and Woodard ends up having to push Rigidy into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Woodard dives in for a single leg takedown but Rigidy sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Woodard. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rigidy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Woodard tries to counter with a takedown but Rigidy is quick to defend against it. Woodard stuffs the takedown. Woodard wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Rigidy looks winded! Woodard instigates a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Woodard wants to take the fight to the mat but Rigidy manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Woodard fails to pull guard.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Rigidy. Rigidy dives in for a single leg takedown but Woodard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Woodard fails with the takedown and Rigidy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Woodard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rigidy circles away. Rigidy looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it. Rigidy shoots in but Woodard avoids the takedown attempt easily. Woodard is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Rigidy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodard fails with a takedown attempt. Rigidy tries to counter by closing the distance. Rigidy has a takedown stuffed. Woodard tries to clinch but Rigidy is having none of it. Woodard shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Woodard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rigidy avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Nice takedown defense from Rigidy. No joy for Woodard on that attempt. Rigidy is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Rigidy closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Woodard did well to prevent Rigidy getting side control. Woodard looks like he's trying to stand up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rigidy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rigidy misses with a head shot. Woodard uses the momentum to regain guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Rigidy dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Rigidy shoots in but Woodard avoids the takedown attempt easily. Rigidy keeps the fight on the outside. Rigidy shoots for a takedown but Woodard saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Woodard shoots in but no luck this time. Rigidy fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Roger Woodard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roger Rigidy. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woodard moves into the clinch successfully.
Rigidy is breathing heavily. Woodard has hold of one of Rigidy's legs. Rigidy is fighting the takedown attempt but Woodard gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Woodard missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rigidy pulls Woodard in close to prevent any damage. Rigidy working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Woodard. Woodard throws a big right hand that misses. Woodard loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rigidy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Woodard wants to get up but he can't break Rigidy's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Woodard really is a fat lump. Rigidy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rigidy shoots in looking for a takedown but Woodard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rigidy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Woodard fails in his attempt to clinch. Rigidy throws a wild body kick that Woodard sees coming a mile off. Woodard seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rigidy is defended easily by Woodard. Woodard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Woodard closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rigidy circles away. Rigidy lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Woodard gets in close and instigates a clinch. Woodard is trying to pull guard but Rigidy has him pressed against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Woodard tries for a takedown. No joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rigidy sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Woodard is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Rigidy is trying to get an arm triangle but Woodard is defending well. Rigidy creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Woodard sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Woodard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Woodard avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rigidy. Rigidy fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Roger Rigidy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Rigidy scores with a head kick. Woodard tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. The fight stays on the outside here - Woodard looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Woodard is looking to clinch but Rigidy is avoiding it.

Rigidy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Woodard looks like he's trying to stand up.

Rigidy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Woodard tries to kick Rigidy off but Rigidy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Woodard wants to stand back up but Rigidy manages to pass into side control.
Woodard is looking to reverse the position. Check out the look on Rigidy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Roger Rigidy has got the better of the ground game so far. Woodard tries to control but Rigidy manages to take his back.

Woodard wants to get back to his feet. Rigidy is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Woodard with him. Woodard is trying to defend but Rigidy has an arm under the chin now! Woodard grimaces and is forced to tap out!
