Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Irvin Reed (ranked 6848 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saburo Katsuyama (ranked 6004 p4p, 558 weight class). Katsuyama comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Maximum The Hormone - Zetsubou Billy kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Irvin Reed has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Irvin Reed! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Saburo Katsuyama! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Katsuyama throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Reed counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Reed. Katsuyama should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Reed will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Katsuyama up against the cage. Katsuyama wants to break free but Reed has control.
Katsuyama working hard to break the clinch. Katsuyama tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Reed smiles and moves away.
Katsuyama thows a body kick. Reed tries to catch it but that hurt him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Reed fails with a takedown attempt.

Reed takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Reed rushes Katsuyama and presses him up against the cage. Katsuyama is trying to force a seperation but Reed has the dominant position. Reed breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Katsuyama tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Katsuyama throws a sloppy head kick and Reed moves out of range easily. Katsuyama lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Reed backs up against the cage.

Katsuyama throws a looping overhand right but Reed ducks down to avoid it. Katsuyama pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Reed feinted with a counter takedown. Katsuyama throws a sloppy head kick and Reed moves out of range easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Reed scores with a takedown into Katsuyama's guard. Reed thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Reed trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Katsuyama avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Reed throws a big elbow that misses. Reed works over Katsuyama with some ground and pound from guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reed scoring with some ground and pound. Reed connects with a couple of short punches. Reed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Reed controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Reed scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Reed has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Reed lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Reed with a nice head shot there. Reed working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Katsuyama is rocked! Reed with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Katsuyama is still in real trouble! Can Reed finish him? Reed postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Reed scoring with some ground and pound. Reed lands a couple of decent looking shots. Reed postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Katsuyama covers up, he's hurt! Reed keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Reed and the ref steps in to end the fight! Reed can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
