Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gail Hendrix (ranked 8796 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Charlton (ranked 25079 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gail Hendrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steven Charlton!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Charlton dives in and scores a takedown into Hendrix's guard.

Charlton remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Let's hope that Charlton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Charlton has hold of one of Hendrix's legs. Hendrix is fighting the takedown attempt but Charlton gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Charlton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hendrix swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Charlton is pushing down on Hendrix's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hendrix is fighting to maintain full guard but Charlton has managed to sneak the leg through.

Charlton is landing with some decent strikes but Hendrix is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Charlton lands a nice short elbow.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Despite the aggression on Charlton's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Well Charlton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
