Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yukimura Gomi (ranked 4757 p4p, 497 weight class) and Ayn Rand (ranked 4538 p4p, 482 weight class). Gomi comes to the cage accompanied by Peak Times by Switch. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yukimura Gomi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ayn Rand!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gomi gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rand stands up and waves to Gomi to follow him.
Rand misses with an uppercut
and Gomi counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Ayn Rand has been cut.

Gomi gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rand to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rand decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Rand shoots for a takedown but Gomi saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Rand gets the takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Rand tries for a kimura but Gomi is defending well.
Rand in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Rand wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gomi, who protects the arm well.
Gomi managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rand is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gomi has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rand is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gomi knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Rand wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gomi, who protects the arm well.

Rand thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Rand is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gomi has escaped the position, nice work there.

Rand is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Gomi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Gomi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rand on the ground.
Gomi is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Rand tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rand has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rand creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gomi sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Rand has hold of Gomi's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Gomi seems comfortable defending it but Rand has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Gomi is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Gomi is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Rand couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Ayn Rand!
Our winner, Ayn Rand, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
