Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Half Life (ranked 2718 p4p, 251 weight class) and Marcos Santana (ranked 4153 p4p, 333 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marcos Santana was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Half Life! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcos Santana! The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Ben Hemmingworth and Steve Erwin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A decent looking cross lands there for Life. Santana shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Life's coaches at Team Alpha Midget have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. Santana is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Life is just riding it out for now. Santana eventually gives up the hold. Life is trying is best to control the position here. Santana wants to free his trapped foot but Life is holding on for dear life with his legs. Life wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santana missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Life is positioning himself well to prevent Santana advancing to mount. Life is refusing to be controlled, as Santana sits in half guard. Santana with the ground and pound but Life uses the opportunity to regain guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana passes Life's left leg - he's now in half guard. Life controlling the position for now. Santana frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Life can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Life holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Santana tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Santana tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Life is trying desperately to improve position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Santana lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Life tries to reverse the position but Santana maintains control. Life tries to hold on but Santana pushes him away. Santana sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Santana landing shots from mount. Life is looking to get to half guard. Santana is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Life to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Life shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Marcos Santana dominated that round. That's time! Life's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Life scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Half Life has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Life cracks Santana with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Santana looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Life finish him?
Santana is rocked! Santana feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Santana is still in real trouble! Can Life finish him? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Life avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Santana throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Life works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Santana is fighting to break Life's control of his arms but Life is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Santana trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Life holds on and takes a little breather. Santana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Life is keeping the position for now. Santana seems to have recovered his senses. Life utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Santana wants to control from the top but Life keeps moving. Santana has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Life controlling Santana's posture.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Santana looking to pass the guard. Santana throws a big elbow that misses. Life is pulling down on Santana's head to control his posture. Life has momentary wrist control but Santana slips an elbow through the middle. Life trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Life utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Santana accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Life working a defensive guard here.

Life takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Santana trying to control the position from guard on top but Life is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Marcos Santana showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. The strikes coming from Santana are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Life is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Santana is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Santana looking to ground and pound but Life is blocking nicely. Santana misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Life is bucking up trying to escape but Santana cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Life is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Santana scoring with strikes but Life is staying in there. Life bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Santana is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Life preventing the sweep.

Life is staying tight to Santana's torso, preventing him from escaping. Santana is not content to let Life control the position. Life content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Santana tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Life wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Santana keeps trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Santana looking for a sweep but Life has passed into full mount! Oh no! Santana working to try and regain half guard.
Santana is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Marcos Santana is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Life looking to control and managing it successfully. Santana is desperately trying to improve his position but Life has a good base and remains in mount. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Life lands a big shot there that rocks Santana but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Santana has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Life throwing strikes but Santana bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top.
And that's the end of the fight! Marcos Santana comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Santana winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
