Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Smith (ranked 2369 p4p, 332 weight class) and Chris Severn (ranked 3351 p4p, 436 weight class). Smith's entrance music is Therion - Sitra Ahra. A fine choice. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
26 - 26 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mike Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 30 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Severn! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Severn uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Smith. Smith sets himself, and Severn steps forward looking for the clinch! Smith avoids it this time. Smith takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Mike Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Severn throws a body shot but no joy. A little feinted left hand from Smith on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. That kick from Smith tenderised Severn's leg. Severn is trying to keep his angry face on. Smith displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Chris Severn has been cut. Severn throws a half hearted mid kick. Smith blocks the body kick.
Smith swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Severn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Severn misses with the body kick letting Smith counter with a right hand. Severn with a body punch. A glancing blow. Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Severn throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's one minute gone in the round. Severn lands a leg kick that knocks Smith off balance momentarily. Smith jabs Severn to the body, keeping him at a distance. Smith rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Severn moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Smith misses with a looping left. Severn throws a series of punches but Smith avoids them all with ease. Severn digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs. Smith chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Smith fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Severn. Severn shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Smith with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and Severn counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Severn trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Severn sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smith's guard. Severn not doing much here.
Smith won't allow Severn to pass to mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Severn is thwarting Smith's attempts to control the position. Still in half guard, Severn seems content to control. Severn prevents Smith from improving his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smith throws a right and a left that both miss. Severn is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch. Smith throws a poor cross that misses
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Severn lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Severn lands with a straight right. Smith didn't see that one coming. Severn showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Smith.
Severn tries to counter with a clinch but Smith shakes him off and moves away. Severn takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses. Smith pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Severn tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Chris Severn will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Chris Severn's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Severn has hold of one of Smith's legs. Smith is fighting the takedown attempt but Severn gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Severn sitting in guard here, content to control. Severn trying to control but Smith is working from the bottom. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Severn gets to his feet - Smith follows without any prompting. Severn bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Severn throws a head kick but Smith moves out of range.
Smith is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Severn. Severn goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Severn. Smith fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Severn has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Smith fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Smith went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. A slapping leg kick lands for Severn.
