Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Page (ranked 3994 p4p, 415 weight class) and Darren Burns (ranked 3139 p4p, 336 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Page!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Darren Burns!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burns moves forwards but Page connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Page tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Burns defends well and Page ends up having to push Burns into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Burns throws a counter combo.
Page wants to clinch.
Page gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Burns throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Burns falls off balance throwing a combination
and Page counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Burns misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Darren Burns seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Page fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Burns, pushing him back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Page is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Burns tries to break the clinch but Page is controlling the position.

Page escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Page throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Burns's waist but Burns gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Page off to one side.
Page wants to clinch.
Burns throws an off balance right hand
and Page counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Page tries to clinch up but Burns circles away and keeps his distance.
Page has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Death Valley Training Facility in the buildup to the fight.
Burns misses with a wild combination.
Page moves in looking to clinch but Burns pushes him off.
Burns lands a jab to Page's midsection.
Darren Burns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Page tries to clinch up but Burns circles away and keeps his distance.
Page doesn't manage to clinch there - Burns circles away.

Page has taken the fight to the clinch.

Burns breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Page looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Burns feints a jab promting Page to slip. Burns then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Page slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Page closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Page lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Burns working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Page.
Page stops Burns from standing up.
Page is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Page in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Burns manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Burns prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Page. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Page comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Page lands an elbow inside that Burns shrugs off.
Page throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Page pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Burns lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Page tries to clinch but Burns is having none of it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Burns! But no joy.
Page fails with an attempt to clinch.
Burns throws a counter combo.
Burns punishes Page's body with a nice straight punch.
Page fails with an attempt to clinch.

Burns pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Page tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burns paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Page lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Burns looks to land a body kick but Page moved away.
Page tries to close the distance and clinch up but Burns swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Burns swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Burns misses the jab.
Burns scores with a jab to the jaw.

Page gets cracked there but stands up to it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burns keeps the fight on the outside.
Burns throws a series of punches but Page avoids them all with ease.
Page appears to be looking for a big counter.
Page rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burns moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Page fails to land the takedown.
Page tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Burns paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A combination from Page does no damage.
Page moves in looking to clinch but Burns pushes him off.

Burns throws a combination that misses
and Page counters with a series of strikes. Burns will be more careful next time no doubt.
We've been informed that Burns has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Burns lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Burns looks to land a right hand but Page moved out of range.
Page takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Page goes for a double leg but Burns avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Burns continues to drive forward.
Burns misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darren Burns dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Burns buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Page lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Burns rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Page moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Page is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Burns dips to his left and cracks Page with an uppercut!
Burns has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Burns looks to land a combination but Page avoids it well.
Burns swats away the attempt to clinch by Page.
Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Page.

Danny Page is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Burns manages to break the clinch.
Burns lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Burns misses with a hook
and Page counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Burns misses the jab.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Burns in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Page tries to clinch but Burns is having none of it.
As Page backs off Burns throws a huge counter combo but Page manages to avoid it all.

Page misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Page is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and Page counters with a crisp one two that drops Burns! Page thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Burns to his feet! Burns is in big trouble!


Burns is rocked!
Page tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Burns manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Burns is still on wobbly legs! Can Page finish him?

Burns seems to have recovered his senses.

Burns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Page staying out of range there.
Page throws a sloppy head kick and Burns moves out of range easily.

and Page counters with a crisp one two that drops Burns! Page thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Burns to his feet! Burns is in big trouble!

and Page scores with a counter punch that sends Burns to the canvas! Page smells blood - he's punishing Burns with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Burns has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Danny Page!
A relieved looking Danny Page thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
