Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brutus Brannagan (ranked 2350 p4p, 273 weight class) and Moe Bang (ranked 824 p4p, 113 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brutus Brannagan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Moe Bang!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bang thuds a left hand into Brannagan's body.
Brannagan misses with a hook

and Bang counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Bang.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brannagan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bang's guard.

Bang has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Brannagan has passed into side control.
Brannagan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Brannagan wants to control but Bang is keeping him busy.
Brannagan fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Bang stuck in half guard on the bottom here.
Brannagan moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Bang is not content to let Brannagan control the position.
Bang has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.

Bang is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Brannagan's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Brannagan's back!

Bang is persistently looking for the submission but Brannagan is defending it well.

Brannagan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Brannagan rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Brannagan makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Brannagan.
Brannagan controls Bang momentarily but Bang frees himself.
Bang wants to control from the top but Brannagan keeps moving.
Brannagan avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Brannagan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bang is one step ahead there.
Bang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bang throws an elbow that misses. Brannagan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bang's guard. Nice move by Brannagan!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brannagan is really struggling to control Bang but he's trying to hold on to the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Brannagan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bang manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Brannagan thows a huge punch but Bang dodges it nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bang is positioning himself well to prevent Brannagan advancing to mount.
Bang wants to improve his position but Brannagan is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Brutus Brannagan will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Brannagan fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bang to the ground. Brannagan is now in Bang's guard.
Bang wants to sweep here but Brannagan controlling him for the moment.
Bang keeps trying to improve his position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brannagan throwing a counter right hand but Bang manages to avoid it.
Bang is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brannagan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Brannagan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Bang throws a head kick that misses.
Brannagan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Bang will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bang fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Brannagan manages to avoid it.
Moe Bang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brannagan connects with a solid leg kick.
Bang misses with a shot to the body
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Bang shoots in looking for a takedown. Brannagan tries to sprawl out of it but Bang keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brannagan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Brutus Brannagan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Moe Bang.
Bang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brannagan pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bang is out of range and Brannagan settles back down.
Brannagan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Bang can do to turn this around?
A head kick misses from Bang.
Brannagan throws a push kick but Bang slaps the foot to one side.
Bang scores with a jab.
Bang walks into a jab.
Bang shoots in but no luck this time.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bang shoots for a takedown but Brannagan saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Brannagan takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Bang misses the shot to the body.
Brannagan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Bang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bang takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Brannagan stuffs the takedown.
Brannagan thinks about countering with a body kick.
Bang is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Brannagan rather than just go for the knockout.
Brannagan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Brannagan throws a head kick that Bang semi-blocks.

Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Brannagan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Bang some visible discomfort.
Bang is looking to reverse the position.
Brannagan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bang keeps working.
Brannagan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Bang to see if he's OK.

and Brannagan counters with a nice body shot.
Brannagan shoots for a takedown but Bang saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Bang drops his hands momentarily and Brannagan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Bang uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brannagan.
Bang throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brannagan's waist but Brannagan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bang off to one side.

Bang decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Bang is the more experienced fighter here and he's going to need to draw on some of that experience if he's going to pull this one out the bag.
Bang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bang wants it to stay on the feet.

I would just about give that final round to Moe Bang.
Well Brannagan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
