Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Blaise Pascual! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roberto Velasquez! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pascual tries to clinch there but Velasquez circles away.
Velasquez throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pascual sees it coming and avoids it easily. Pascual lands with a cross.
It looks like Roberto Velasquez has been cut. A decent looking cross lands there for Pascual. Donk. Pascual catches Velasquez right on the button with a cross. Pascual wants to clinch. Velasquez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pascual gets caught flat footed, as Velasquez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Pascual pulls Velasquez in close to his closed guard and prevents Velasquez from doing any damage or advancing position. Velasquez pushing down on Pascual's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Pascual on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Pascual tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pascual tries to roll over but Velasquez keeps him under control. Velasquez not doing much here.
Velasquez is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Velasquez is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pascual has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is taking a breather. Pascual says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Velasquez tries to pass to full mount but Pascual defends it. Velasquez is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pascual sees it coming and defends easily. Velasquez is looking to take a break and control but Pascual is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Velasquez is controlling the pace.
Pascual is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez passes to full mount! Pascual's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Pascual tries to improve his position but instead Velasquez has taken his back! Pascual wants to get back to his feet. Pascual looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Pascual is trying to break free.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Pascual is tapping out! This one is all over!
