Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
28 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vasili Komaroff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
35 - 23 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Sparky Anderson! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Komaroff misses. Anderson appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Komaroff connects with a leg kick. Anderson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Komaroff misses with an uppercut
and Anderson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Anderson throws an overhand right that lands on Komaroff's shoulder, as Komaroff tries to avoid the shot. Komaroff fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Anderson has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Komaroff seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Vasili Komaroff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Komaroff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Komaroff scores with a three punch combo!
Anderson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Komaroff tries to land a leg kick but Anderson saw it coming and moves away.
Komaroff misses with a leg kick and Anderson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Komaroff misses with a hook. Anderson ducked under it nicely. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Decent striking displayed by Komaroff there. Komaroff doesn't succeed with the takedown and Anderson counters with a nice body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Komaroff throws a leg kick and Anderson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Komaroff looks to land a combination but Anderson avoids it well. Komaroff throws out a loose jab but Anderson uses good head movement to avoid it. Anderson with the counter takedown but Komaroff avoids it easily. Anderson looks to throw the jab but Komaroff is out of range. Good exchange - Anderson coming out on top. Komaroff thuds a left hand into Anderson's body. Komaroff thows a leg kick but Anderson checks it and Anderson counters with a straight right hand. Anderson throws the left hand but Komaroff avoids the punch easily. Anderson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Komaroff. Komaroff moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromAnderson. Anderson is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Whack! Anderson lands a heavy head kick that drops Komaroff. The ref tackles Anderson to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Komaroff was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Sparky Anderson! After the fight, Sparky Anderson was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. The defeated Vasili Komaroff had this to say: 'I will come back stronger and stronger and that belt will be mine again!'.
