Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Potter (ranked 271 p4p, 23 weight class) and Arjan Bhullar (ranked 552 p4p, 48 weight class). Potter's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT. Bhullar has chosen Lords of the Underground - Chief Rocka as his entrance music. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Potter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Arjan Bhullar!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bhullar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Potter moves away.
Bhullar lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Potter thuds his right hand into Bhullar's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Potter misses with a body kick.
Potter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bhullar.
Bhullar swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A quick step to the side and Potter tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Potter throws a leg kick that misses.
Bhullar moves out of range of the body kick from Potter.
Potter looks to land a left hand but Bhullar moved out of range nicely.
Bhullar drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Potter defends it well.

Bhullar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Potter to the mat! Potter manages to get full guard.

Potter pulls Bhullar in close to prevent any damage.
Potter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bhullar working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Bhullar wants to control from the top but Potter keeps moving.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Potter thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Bhullar if he has to take too many more of those.
Potter darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


It looks like Arjan Bhullar has been cut.
The fighters circle momentarily. Potter darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Jack Potter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Potter throws a nice inside leg kick.
Potter throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Bhullar takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Bhullar throws an overhand right that lands on Potter's shoulder, as Potter tries to avoid the shot.

Potter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Bhullar changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Potter dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bhullar. That did some damage!

Potter throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Bhullar looks to land a right hand but Potter moved out of range.
Jack Potter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Potter throws a leg kick that misses.
A little jabbing left from Bhullar on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A telegraphed right hand from Bhullar misses the target.
Potter misses with a lunging right hand
and Bhullar counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Potter misses with a low kick.
We've been told by Potter's head coaches at Heritage Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Bhullar just misses with a punch to the body.
A little feinted left hand from Potter on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Potter lands with a thumping leg kick.
Potter tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Bhullar was well out of range. Poor timing from Potter.

Potter misses with a hook from the clinch.

Bhullar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Potter can't fight it off and eventually Bhullar manages to take the fight to the floor. Potter looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Bhullar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bhullar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Potter works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Bhullar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Potter.
Potter feints and then cracks Bhullar's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bhullar down.
Potter connects with a nice looking jab.

and Potter counters with a nice leg kick.
Potter jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Potter is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

and Potter counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Bhullar thinking.
Potter walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bhullar checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bhullar cracks Potter with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Bhullar looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Potter moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Bhullar is breathing heavily.
Potter throws a leg kick which misses Bhullar's front leg but catches the back leg as Bhullar tries to avoid it.
Potter is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Bhullar drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Potter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Potter throws a quick counter head kick but Bhullar was just out of range.

Bhullar walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Potter throws a low kick but Bhullar moves out of range easily.

Potter tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Potter on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Potter misses with a low kick.
Potter circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Bhullar drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Potter follows Bhullar to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Potter!

Jack Potter was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
