Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Jack Jones!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sylvester Ritter!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ritter throws a combination. Jones tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like Jack Jones has been cut.
Sylvester Ritter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A good leg kick by Jones.

Ritter moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Jones goes down! Can Ritter finish him!?
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ritter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Ritter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ritter throws an elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ritter's guard. Nice move by Jones!


Ritter is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.
Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ritter is proving hard to escape from.
Ritter looking for a sweep. Not yet Ritter, not yet.
Ritter is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Jones trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ritter's guard.

Jones gets to his feet - Ritter follows without any prompting.
Jones throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jones takes a shot right to the bread basket.

Ritter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ritter not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Jones manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Ritter keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ritter chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jones can pounce on him.
Ritter feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down.
Jones lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Jones takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Jones walks into a left hand.
Jones throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jack Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ritter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones throwing a counter right hand but Ritter manages to avoid it.
Jones slips a jab from Ritter.
We've been told by Jones's head coaches at Midnight MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Ritter tries to close the distance and clinch but Jones swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ritter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jones as he jumps to the side.
Jones was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Ritter swings away with a body shot that misses
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sylvester Ritter dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jack Jones's cut.
That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Ritter throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A little feinted left hand from Jones on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jones cracks a nice hook into Ritter's ribs.
Ritter throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
Ritter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ritter chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Jones can pounce on him.
Ritter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones thinks about countering with a body kick.
Jones walks into a left hand.
Jones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Jones gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ritter with a flurry of punches that miss.
Ritter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.
Jones wants to stand up but Ritter is controlling him.

Jones has Ritter pulled in close to control his posture.
Ritter in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ritter distracts Jones with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ritter manages to get himself to full guard.

Ritter has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Jones wants to stand but Ritter is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ritter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ritter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Ritter is pulling down on Jones's head to control his posture.
Jones wants to get up but he can't break Ritter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The fighters circle momentarily. Jones darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ritter tries to clinch up.
Ritter has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Ritter dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Ritter's head and hops out.
Ritter misses with a straight left.
Ritter throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Jones has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ritter finds it's way round the side to connect with Jones's head.
Jones takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Jones takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ritter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jones was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ritter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Ritter throws a right and a left that Jones avoids nicely.
Jones thumps Ritter with a low kick.
Ritter looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
Ritter throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily.
Ritter lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Ritter ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Jones throwing a counter right hand but Ritter manages to avoid it.
Ritter throws a poor cross that misses
and Jones counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Sylvester Ritter has been cut.
Jones lands with an overhand left.
Ritter misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ritter misses with an uppercut
and Jones counters with a nice kick to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sylvester Ritter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Jones misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Ritter.

Ritter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ritter works over Jones's head and body with a nice combination.
Sylvester Ritter seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Jones lands a big uppercut and Ritter crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Ritter looks OK. Jones waves Ritter back to his feet!

Jones lands a big uppercut and this one is all over! His foe lies motionless on the canvas - a massive one punch knockout!

Jack Jones was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
