Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Henry Aron (ranked 1045 p4p, 152 weight class) and Wes Ray (ranked 1288 p4p, 183 weight class). Aron comes to the cage accompanied by USA!. Ray has chosen The Best Around as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Henry Aron! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wes Ray! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ray feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Ray throwing strikes from guard but Aron blocks nicely. Ray trying to control but Aron is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aron controls Ray momentarily but Ray frees himself. Ray distracts Aron with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Ray postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Aron seems keen to control Ray's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ray lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Ray makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Ray has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aron looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ray is one step ahead there. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Ray working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Ray stands up over Aron, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Ray scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Ray throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aron works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ray working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Aron trying to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ray is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Ray working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ray working some strikes from top position. Ray working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ray working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Aron's head. Aron has his hands on Ray's head, controlling the position. Ray drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Aron dives on top into guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Aron lands a couple of elbows. Aron lands a couple of decent looking shots. Aron is looking to work some ground and pound but Ray has wrist control. Ray is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ray wants to sweep but no luck. Aron is posturing up here but Ray has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Aron tries to roll out but it's too tight and Aron has to tap! Slick submission there by Ray!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Wes Ray! Wes Ray is the new light heavyweight champion! Wes Ray decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Henry Aron spoke after the fight, saying 'I want to thank me mum, Rise for giving me this chance, and I am going to want that belt back.'.
