Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Richardson (ranked 6110 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Gonzalez (ranked 6223 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richardson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gonzalez's waist but Gonzalez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Richardson off to one side.
Gonzalez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Richardson pinned against the cage. Richardson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Richardson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Gonzalez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Richardson closes the distance and clinches up with Gonzalez, looking for a takedown. Richardson pushes Gonzalez against the cage but Gonzalez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Richardson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gonzalez.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Gonzalez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Patrick Richardson.
Well Richardson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
