Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Hardy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Doyle! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Atkins and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doyle throws a body shot but no joy. Hardy instigates a clinch. Hardy stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Hardy jumps guard but Doyle stands there with Hardy around his waist. Hardy gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hardy tries to break free but Doyle pushes him back against the cage. Hardy is trying to break the clinch but Doyle has him pressed against the cage. Hardy wants to get back to striking at distance but Doyle won't allow it.
Doyle wants a takedown but no success here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Doyle escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Doyle closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Hardy prevents a takedown attempt there.
Come on Doyle - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy blocks an uppercut.
Hardy lands a takedown into guard.
Hardy throwing strikes from guard but Doyle blocks nicely. Doyle will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hardy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Doyle wants to hit a switch here but Hardy passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Doyle there! Doyle manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doyle trying to hold on to Hardy's head to control him but Hardy postures up.
Hardy misses with a head shot. Doyle uses the momentum to regain guard. Doyle has his hands on Hardy's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy throws a big elbow that misses. Doyle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hardy defends well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Doyle wants to stand up but Hardy is controlling him. Doyle is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hardy has his hands clasped together but Doyle extends and breaks Hardy's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Doyle.
