Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gregory McVaughn (ranked 3492 p4p, 382 weight class) and Marco Polo (ranked 8495 p4p, 642 weight class). Polo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: On The Floor. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 5 - 2, fighting out of New York, Gregory McVaughn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 28 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Polo! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McVaughn swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Polo tries to clinch but fails miserably and McVaughn counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Marco Polo has been cut. Donk. McVaughn catches Polo right on the button with a cross. McVaughn throws a lazy right hand but Polo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. McVaughn misses with a straight left. Gregory McVaughn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Polo clinches up against the cage. Polo avoids the elbow strike from McVaughn, against the cage.
Still in the clinch, McVaughn scores with a nice short uppercut. McVaughn lands a hook to the side of the head. Polo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McVaughn fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Polo tries to score a power double leg takedown but McVaughn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Polo somewhat. Polo closes the distance and clinches up with McVaughn, looking for a takedown. Polo pushes McVaughn against the cage but McVaughn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gregory McVaughn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marco Polo. Polo gets tackled into the cage by McVaughn. McVaughn maintains the clinch. McVaughn slowing the pace effectively. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Polo has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McVaughn avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Polo blocks the elbow strike.

McVaughn works Polo's body with a nice hook. McVaughn throws a jab when Polo was well out of range. Polo shoots in and drives through. McVaughn sprawls well. McVaughn stalks Polo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Polo's face. Polo staggers backwards, shaken. Polo fails with a takedown attempt from distance. McVaughn tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Polo manages to circle out of the way. Polo misses with a kick to the body.
Polo is looking to take this fight into the clinch. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Polo on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by McVaughn. McVaughn obviously looking to wear him down.
McVaughn misses with a right hand and Polo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Polo has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Polo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming McVaughn to the mat! McVaughn manages to get full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McVaughn is adopting a defensive guard. McVaughn avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. McVaughn is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. McVaughn keeping moving, preventing Polo from controlling successfully. Polo being controlled here momentarily. Polo looking to pass the guard. McVaughn is pulling down on Polo's head to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Polo got a little sloppy there for a moment and McVaughn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Polo has managed to get both his arms back between McVaughn's legs - danger averted. Polo wants to pass the guard but McVaughn is keeping the position.

McVaughn cracks Polo with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. McVaughn scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

McVaughn is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Polo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. McVaughn controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Polo prevents McVaughn from improving his position. Polo wants to free his trapped foot but McVaughn is holding on for dear life with his legs. McVaughn is trying is best to control the position here.

McVaughn is looking for a sweep. Polo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Polo looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. McVaughn has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Polo is working away from the top position though. McVaughn wants to get back to full guard. McVaughn is controlling Polo's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. McVaughn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McVaughn circles away from the clinch attempt.

Polo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but McVaughn avoids it really well and circles away. Polo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McVaughn swivels and escapes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Horrible takedown attempt by Polo or perhaps it was just good defense by McVaughn, which made it look bad. Gregory McVaughn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. McVaughn feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Polo's calf. Polo gets tackled into the cage by McVaughn. McVaughn maintains the clinch. McVaughn lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Polo blocks a body shot from McVaughn. McVaughn gets underhooks to prevent Polo's takedown attempt.
