The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Al Hestian shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mayer but Mayer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mayer throws the left hand but Al Hestian avoids the punch easily.
Al Hestian slips a straight right by Mayer.
Al Hestian looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mayer is fending him off so far but Al Hestian persists. Nope, Mayer circles away and we're back to standing.
Mayer throws a hook but Al Hestian avoids it easily.
Al Hestian drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Mayer defends it well.
Al Hestian throws a sloppy head kick and Mayer moves out of range easily.

Mayer throws a lazy right hand but Al Hestian sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Al Hestian will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Al Hestian tries to circle away but Mayer has him pinned against the cage.
Al Hestian wants to get back to striking at distance but Mayer won't allow it.
Mayer digs a right hand underneath Al Hestian's ribcage. Al Hestian let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Mayer lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
