PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucas Marston (ranked 1053 p4p, 157 weight class) and Three Dog (ranked 1672 p4p, 242 weight class). Marston comes to the cage accompanied by Bring it on motherfucker. The crowd seem to be enjoying Dog's choice of entrance music: Fallout. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Three Dog!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog loads up on a big right hand but Marston slips the punch.
Marston misses with a looping left.
Marston on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Dog has managed to clinch.
Marston lands with a short shot to the head.
A body shot lands from Dog.
Marston tries to break free but Dog pushes him back against the cage.

Marston breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marston shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Dog clinches.
Marston misses with a punch to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dog works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Marston pushes Dog back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Marston lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dog is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marston is aware though and is defending well.
Marston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dog swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dog has his foot on Marston's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Marston works his way back into a safe position though.

Dog is controlling Marston's posture.
Dog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Marston seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dog is looking for a triangle but Marston pushes his legs off easily.
Marston might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Dog is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Dog is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marston is aware though and is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dog is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Marston counters with a low kick, right behind Dog 's knee.
Dog throws a leg kick but Marston sees it coming and moves out of range.
Marston takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Dog has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Marston swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dog lands a nice looking kick to the body. Marston takes a step back to recover.

Marston lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Three Dog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Marston takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
A looping hook to the body misses from Marston. Dog does a little dance to reset his feet.
Three Dog seems to be getting the better of the standup.

A nice leg kick lands there from Dog.
Marston lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Dog backs up against the cage.
Marston bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Dog's head.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Dog, right into the meat.
Marston feints and then cracks Dog's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dog down.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Dog smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Dog throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

and Marston counters with a three punch combo that has Dog backing up. Dog nods at Marston to acknowledge the strikes.

and Marston counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Marston ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Dog was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Dog.

Dog throws a nice inside leg kick.
That kick from Dog tenderised Marston's leg. Marston is trying to keep his angry face on.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Marston counters with a head kick that drops Dog to the mat! Dog scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

and Marston counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Marston throws a lazy right hand but Dog sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dog throws out a loose jab but Marston uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Marston connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Marston takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

A quick step to the side and Marston tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

and Marston counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Marston lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dog circles away quickly and effectively.
Dog misses with a low kick.
Marston feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Dog's calf.
Marston stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Dog.
Marston misses the shot to the body.
Some wild striking there from Marston.
Dog scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Marston doesn't seem bothered though.

and Dog counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Marston connects with an inside leg kick.
Marston swats away the attempt to clinch by Dog.
Marston throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dog takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dog swings for the body but Marston moves out of range.
Dog looks to throw a body kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Marston misses with a hook.

And that's the end of the fight!
Three Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Dog has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
