Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexey Juravlev (ranked 1167 p4p, 120 weight class) and Jer Bear (ranked 2602 p4p, 271 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bear's choice of entrance music: Good Times. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Alexey Juravlev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 27 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jer Bear!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juravlev throws a body punch but Bear moves out of range.
Bear tries to counter by closing the distance.
Juravlev misses with a wild body shot.

Bear closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bear lands in his opponent's guard.

Juravlev has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bear is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
Bear changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Juravlev fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Juravlev smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Bear shoots in but Juravlev avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bear tries to close the distance and clinch but Juravlev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Juravlev tries to bum rush Bear with a series of wild strikes but Bear uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Bear tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bear tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Juravlev defends well and Bear ends up having to push Juravlev into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Alexey Juravlev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bear closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Bear is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Juravlev defends it well.
Juravlev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bear is trying to control. Juravlev wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Bear controls Juravlev momentarily but Juravlev frees himself.

Juravlev stands up and beckons Bear to his feet.
Juravlev has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bear finds it's way round the side to connect with Juravlev's head.

Juravlev pulls Bear in close to his closed guard and prevents Bear from doing any damage or advancing position.

Bear wants to control from the top but Juravlev keeps moving.
Juravlev lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bear creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Juravlev's defenses.


It looks like Alexey Juravlev has been cut.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Juravlev here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

That has opened up Jer Bear's cut even more.

Juravlev fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bear looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Well Juravlev has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
