Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brazilian Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brazilian Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kevin Smith!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Smith closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Smith lands in his opponent's guard.
Smith is stalling in the full guard.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fighter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Fighter working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.
Fighter utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Fighter has had enough of the clinch but Smith keeps him there for the moment.

Fighter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smith wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Fighter drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smith dives on top into guard.
Smith wants to control from the top but Fighter keeps moving.
Fighter could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Fighter looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Smith passes into side control.
A lull in the action here as Smith stalls from top position.

Fighter tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily

and Smith counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smith.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brazilian Fighter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith connects with a couple of short punches.
Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Fighter looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Fighter is looking for a triangle but Smith pushes his legs off easily.
Smith tries to stand but Fighter is controlling from the bottom.

Fighter wants to sweep but no luck.

Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Fighter some visible discomfort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Smith tries to improve position but can't.

Fighter tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fighter has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Smith pushes Fighter away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Fighter gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.

Fighter avoids the attempt from Smith to control.

Fighter stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. Fighter didn't expect that.

Fighter had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Smith is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fighter Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Smith's back instead.

Fighter fails with the takedown

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.

Smith has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Fighter is trying to keep an underhook but Smith manages to get the takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Smith connects with a nice short shot to Fighter's temple.

Smith seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Smith counters with a left and a right that stings Fighter.

Fighter is in close to Smith's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but Fighter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Fighter wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.

Smith thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fighter drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brazilian Fighter. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Smith counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fighter!

Smith can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fighter is looking to escape.

Fighter's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith lands with some strikes.
Smith trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Fighter can't escape the position.
Smith looking to control but Fighter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fighter throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Fighter keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fighter is working hard here to advance position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kevin Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Smith has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
