Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kaplan Temrezov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Zhasulan Boranbayev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Valeri Chadov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Temrezov lands with a nice combination. Boranbayev backs away looking to recover.
Temrezov shoots in for a takedown but Boranbayev shows good takedown defense.

Boranbayev dives in and scores a takedown into Temrezov's guard.

Temrezov is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Temrezov wants to get back to his feet but Boranbayev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Temrezov had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Boranbayev defends it easily.
Temrezov is breathing heavily.
Boranbayev throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Temrezov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boranbayev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Temrezov looking to control.
Boranbayev throws an elbow that misses. Temrezov uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Boranbayev's guard. Nice move by Temrezov!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boranbayev can do anything to dispel that myth.
Temrezov trying to control the position from guard on top but Boranbayev is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boranbayev wants to sweep here but Temrezov controlling him for the moment.
Temrezov is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Temrezov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Boranbayev pulls Temrezov in close to prevent any damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Boranbayev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Temrezov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Boranbayev has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Temrezov doesn't defend quickly enough and Boranbayev has managed to lock this one up! Can Temrezov escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Boranbayev on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Zhasulan Boranbayev!
