The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calypso closes this distance looking for a takedown but bransen circles away. Jack Calypso seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Calypso gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Calypso manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. bransen manages to get himself to full guard.

Calypso postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! bransen is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! Calypso gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Calypso drops back, looking for a kneebar! bransen looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. bransen looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from bransen! Calypso is trying to get back to half guard. Calypso is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. bransen gets to mount! Calypso was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Calypso can't escape the position.

bransen stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. bransen is breathing heavily. Calypso with a poor takedown and bransen counters with a nice double leg into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Calypso looking for a sweep. Not yet Calypso, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Calypso working for a triangle but bransen defends it easily.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Calypso with a poor takedown and bransen counters with a takedown into side control. rain bransen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Calypso. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. bransen working away. bransen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Calypso knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. You can see the frustration on Calypso's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Calypso sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calypso is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. bransen doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Calypso. Calypso moves into full mount! bransen won't be happy about that! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Calypso tries to keep control of the position but bransen is staying busy. rain bransen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Calypso controlling from the back. Calypso trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

bransen trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Calypso really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for bransen.
Despite being in the dominant position, Jack Calypso just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Calypso on the wrong end of a nice jab. bransen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Calypso tries to avoid it but bransen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Calypso to the ground. Calypso escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Calypso has his takedown stuffed and bransen counters with a single leg into guard. Calypso didn't expect that.

Nope, bransen circles away and we're back to standing. Calypso gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and bransen counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Jack Calypso showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
