Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Wright (ranked 23703 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Axis (ranked 7077 p4p, 0 weight class). Wright's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Warped Mind. Roy Axis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alex Wright! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Roy Axis! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Axis bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Wright's head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Axis is defended easily by Wright. As Axis tries to get set, Wright tries to push him back and clinch up but Axis manages to avoid the attempt. Wright dives in and grabs Axis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Axis pushes down on Wright's head and hops out. Axis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Wright has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Axis off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. No luck for Axis with that takedown attempt. Wright changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Axis has eaten all the pies! Axis goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Axis has his takedown stuffed and Wright counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Alex Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roy Axis. Axis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wright is fending him off so far but Axis persists. Nope, Wright circles away and we're back to standing. Axis throws the kick towards the body but Wright avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Axis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wright swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wright has Axis up against the cage in a clinch.
Wright is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Axis is defending well. Axis tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wright smiles and moves away.
Wright lands a head kick!
It looks like Roy Axis has been cut. Wright has managed to clinch.
Axis tries to pull guard but Wright won't allow it.
Come on Wright - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wright pulls guard successfully.
Wright will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Wright pushes Axis off and gets back to his feet.
Wright looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Wright fails to land the takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Axis. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Axis misses with a takedown attempt - Wright sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Axis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wright defends it nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Axis throws a head kick but Wright moves out of range.
Wright is looking to counter the offense by Axis and move into the clinch. Wright definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Axis feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Wright wriggles free and stands up. Nice takedown defense from Wright. No joy for Axis on that attempt. Wright closes the distance and clinches up with Axis, looking for a takedown. Wright pushes Axis against the cage but Axis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Axis drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Wright defends it well. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Axis.
Wright clinches up with Axis and pushes him back against the cage. Wright is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Axis to keep the fight standing. Wright breaks the clinch.
Wright misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! The fight stays on the outside here - Axis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Axis shoots in for a takedown but Wright shows good takedown defense. Wright looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Axis is fending him off so far but Wright persists. Nope, Axis circles away and we're back to standing. Wright takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Axis doesn't manage to clinch there - Wright circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Axis. Axis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Axis shoots in but Wright avoids the takedown attempt easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Wright dominated that round. The cut man is working on Roy Axis's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Wright has managed to clinch.
Axis tries to pull guard but Wright won't allow it.
Axis is defending well against a takedown attempt. The referee is keeping an eye on Axis - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Axis manages to break the clinch.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Axis. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wright instigates a clinch. Wright can't get the takedown.
Wright drops down looking for an ankle pick but Axis pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from Wright as Axis shoots in. Wright half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Axis throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Wright's waist but Wright gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Axis off to one side. Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Axis but Axis pushes him off and we're back to square one. Left hook, right uppercut from Wright. Axis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wright is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Axis can do to turn this around? Wright fails to land the takedown. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Wright throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Axis. Axis shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wright as he avoids it easily. Axis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Wright tries to bum rush Axis with a series of wild strikes but Axis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Axis avoids the head kick by Wright.
Wright avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alex Wright is winning the standup battle so far. Wright tries to keep at a distance but Axis has taken the fight into the clinch. Wright tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Axis fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wright ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Wright no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Axis has gone for a leg lock! Wright slips out almost immediately though and dives into Axis's guard. Wright content to stall in guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Axis is trying to keep Wright in close.
Axis throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wright escapes and throws Axis's legs to the side, diving into side control! Wright is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Axis is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Wright throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Axis is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Wright's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Wright! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Axis has tapped! This one is allllll over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Alex Wright! Alex Wright decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
