PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dom Willis (ranked 3499 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shia LaBeouf (ranked 3462 p4p, 0 weight class). LaBeouf has chosen Riptide as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Shia LaBeouf enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dom Willis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 34 - 4, fighting out of Montreal, Shia LaBeouf!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaBeouf drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
LaBeouf throws a solid leg kick but Willis takes the impact on his shin and smiles at LaBeouf.
LaBeouf just misses with a punch to the body.
LaBeouf takes a swing at Willis's ribcage but misses.
LaBeouf throws the left hand but Willis avoids the punch easily.
LaBeouf fails with a takedown attempt.

Willis is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in LaBeouf's half guard.
Willis is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
LaBeouf is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Willis prevents LaBeouf from improving his position.
Willis is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Willis has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Willis is pressing down on LaBeouf's thigh, looking to free his foot. LaBeouf is holding on for now.
Willis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks LaBeouf with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Willis is looking to advance position but LaBeouf won't allow it.
Willis is taking a breather. LaBeouf says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
LaBeouf makes his way to full guard. A much better position for LaBeouf.
Willis wants to control from the top but LaBeouf keeps moving.
Willis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Willis is in close to LaBeouf's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Willis is looking to work some ground and pound but LaBeouf has wrist control.
Willis wants to control from the top but LaBeouf keeps moving.
LaBeouf trying to keep a closed guard but Willis is proving a slippery customer.
Willis lands a couple of digs.
LaBeouf throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
LaBeouf has control of Willis's left arm, preventing Willis from doing any damage.

LaBeouf looking for a guillotine here but Willis defends easily.

Willis slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Willis wants to control but LaBeouf is keeping him busy.
Willis in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Willis lands some shots froms side control.
Willis in side control lands a decent elbow.
Willis lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear LaBeouf down.
Willis taking a breather here.
LaBeouf is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Willis landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Willis lands some shots froms side control.
LaBeouf tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Willis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Willis works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Willis cracks LaBeouf with a big elbow.
LaBeouf is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
LaBeouf is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dom Willis dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


LaBeouf swinging wildly here.

Willis rushes LaBeouf and presses him up against the cage.
Willis is looking to take this one to the mat.
Willis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. LaBeouf gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Willis is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Willis lands a left hand that snaps the head of LaBeouf backwards.
A head punch on the inside from Willis fails to land.

Willis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
LaBeouf throws a poor cross that misses
and Willis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
LaBeouf tries to score with a low kick but Willis moves his leg out of the way.
Jab, jab by Willis - just one landing.
Willis with a hook.
Willis avoids a kick to the body.
Willis looks to land a right hand but LaBeouf moved out of range.
Shia LaBeouf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
LaBeouf ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Willis moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Willis misses the target.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
LaBeouf tries to work over Willis's front leg with a kick but Willis checks it.
Willis misses with a hook
and LaBeouf finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
LaBeouf jabs Willis right on the nose. Willis blinks but takes it well.

LaBeouf drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
LaBeouf with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dom Willis overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
LaBeouf postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Willis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Willis holds on and takes a little breather.
Willis wants to sweep but no luck.
Willis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Willis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

LaBeouf in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Willis seems keen to control LaBeouf's posture.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Willis is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
The fight stays on the outside here - Willis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
LaBeouf ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
And LaBeouf tries to counter it with a takedown but Willis pushes his down on his head and steps out.
LaBeouf gets off balance looking for a body kick
and LaBeouf takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Willis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but LaBeouf manages to avoid it.
LaBeouf's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and LaBeouf duly obliges.


It looks like Dom Willis has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Willis gets cracked there but stands up to it.


Willis is rocked!
LaBeouf fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Oh Willis is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
LaBeouf connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
LaBeouf avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
LaBeouf swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Willis counters with a stiff right hand.
LaBeouf is looking to chop away at Willis's legs.
LaBeouf drops Willis with a naaaaasty hook - Willis is in real trouble here! LaBeouf dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shia LaBeouf!
As Shia LaBeouf got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: moving up to 170 to fight Nick Diaz'.
