Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Johnson (ranked 3805 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Ham (ranked 6244 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Big Ham!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Ham closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Johnson misses with an elbow strike.

Ham has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Johnson is trying to keep an underhook but Ham manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Johnson kicks off Ham and gets to his feet.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Ham shows good takedown defense.
That kick from Johnson tenderised Ham's leg. Ham is trying to keep his angry face on.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Johnson scores with a hook.

Johnson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Johnson wants to pass the guard but Ham is defending well.
Ham regains full guard. Nicely done.

Johnson wants to control from the top but Ham keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ham manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Johnson manages to get himself to full guard.

Johnson can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ham controls the pace.
Johnson has a closed guard, preventing Ham from standing up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ham changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ham is putting a hurting on Johnson here, landing some big shots from side control.
Johnson tries to buck Ham off but Ham is having none of it.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ham is trying to get an arm triangle but Johnson is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Johnson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Ham tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Johnson tries to bench press Ham off him but Ham keeps the position.
Johnson is letting Ham control him for a moment.
Ham wants to stand but Johnson is controlling his arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Big Ham will probably get the nod.

Johnson looks to score with a jab to the body but Ham is just out of range.
Johnson throws a series of strikes that have Ham backpedaling.


It looks like Big Ham has been cut.
Johnson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Ham on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Ham.
Ham works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.
Ham wants to stand but Johnson has his arm trapped.
Johnson tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Ham presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ham cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Johnson tries to reverse the position but Ham maintains control.
Ham is looking to stand but Johnson has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.

Ham landing strikes from the mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ham fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Ham takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Let's hope that Ham has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ham has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Ham fails to take his opponent's back.
Ham lands a big elbow.

Johnson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ham on the ground.

Ham has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Big Ham showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Big Ham's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Ham shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Johnson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Ham controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ham distracts Johnson with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Ham controlling from the top position.
Ham has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Johnson is trying to control the position but Ham postures up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ham but Ham pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ham manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Johnson on his heels. He'll look to pass Johnson's guard now, I'm sure.

Ham is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Ham's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Ham got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ham has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted.
Big Ham has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Ham slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Ham scores with a couple of short elbows.
Ham looks up at the clock and then as Johnson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Ham smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Ham slows the pace down.
Johnson tries to improve position but can't.

Ham is working to tighten his grip on Johnson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Johnson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ham is really squeezing tight and eventually Johnson passes out! Ham breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Big Ham!
