Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Juan Gonzalez (ranked 5587 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Rowler (ranked 25522 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Juan Gonzalez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Rowler! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzalez shoots in for a takedown but Rowler shows good takedown defense. Rowler throws a counter combo. Gonzalez gets a double leg takedown into Rowler's guard. Rowler is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Rowler looking for a sweep. Not yet Rowler, not yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzalez is looking to work some ground and pound but Rowler has wrist control. Gonzalez landing some decent shots from guard. Gonzalez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rowler dives on top into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rowler is aware though and is defending well. Gonzalez looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez has his hands on Rowler's head, controlling the position. Rowler trying to move into half guard but instead Gonzalez has managed to sweep! Rowler trying to strike off his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rowler is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gonzalez is aware though and is defending well. Gonzalez tries to stand but Rowler is controlling from the bottom. Rowler has his foot on Gonzalez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gonzalez works his way back into a safe position though. Gonzalez preventing the sweep. Rowler wants to stand up but Gonzalez is controlling him.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gonzalez goes for a double leg but Rowler avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Rowler continues to drive forward. Rowler tries a quick counter leg kick but Gonzalez is wise to it. Gonzalez fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Juan Gonzalez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rowler darts in and clinches Gonzalez up against the cage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rowler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rowler looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gonzalez is fending him off so far but Rowler persists. Nope, Gonzalez circles away and we're back to standing. Rowler shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gonzalez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Gonzalez thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Gonzalez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rowler throwing strikes but missing. Gonzalez is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rowler trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Gonzalez manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Gonzalez's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gonzalez is looking to stand up but Rowler won't let him. Rowler working a defensive guard but Gonzalez passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Rowler blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gonzalez. Gonzalez is taking a breather. Rowler says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Juan Gonzalez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Gonzalez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rowler looks for a takedown but Gonzalez sprawls well. Gonzalez appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Gonzalez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rowler's guard. Gonzalez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Gonzalez wants to stand but Rowler has a closed guard, so he can't escape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rowler is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gonzalez defends well. Rowler utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gonzalez preventing the sweep. Gonzalez working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Rowler has an active guard here but Gonzalez has managed to pass into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Gonzalez with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Rowler avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gonzalez. Rowler wants to get back to his feet. Gonzalez wants to stand but Rowler has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Rowler tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gonzalez defends well and Rowler ends up having to push Gonzalez into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Gonzalez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rowler scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gonzalez manages to mount him!
Rowler is breathing heavily. Juan Gonzalez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gonzalez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gonzalez avoids the attempt from Rowler to control. Rowler is looking to improve his position but Gonzalez isn't that keen on the idea. Gonzalez controlling the position easily from mount. Rowler blocking the ground and pound. Gonzalez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rowler can do to turn this around? Gonzalez throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Rowler because Gonzalez loaded up on that one.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rowler is trying desperately to improve position. Gonzalez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Rowler looks a forlorn figure.
Gonzalez looking to control and managing it successfully. Rowler really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gonzalez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rowler wants to control but Gonzalez is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Gonzalez with the ground and pound from mount. Rowler keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Juan Gonzalez dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Gonzalez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rowler is fending him off so far but Gonzalez persists. Nope, Rowler circles away and we're back to standing. Gonzalez gets a clinch. Gonzalez has Rowler pushed against the cage. Rowler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gonzalez tries to keep at a distance but Rowler has taken the fight into the clinch. Rowler is trying to pull guard but Gonzalez turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Rowler pulls guard effortlessly. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gonzalez in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Gonzalez looking to sit in guard and control but Rowler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Gonzalez pulls Rowler in to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gonzalez continues to stall. Gonzalez throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Gonzalez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rowler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gonzalez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rowler has managed to get both his arms back between Gonzalez's legs - danger averted. Gonzalez trying to keep a closed guard but Rowler is proving a slippery customer.
Rowler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gonzalez is keeping the position for now. Rowler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Gonzalez preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gonzalez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rowler is looking to get back to is feet but Gonzalez passes into side control.
Gonzalez is looking to take a break and control but Rowler is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Gonzalez tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gonzalez has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Rowler is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rowler is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gonzalez's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Gonzalez! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Rowler has tapped! This one is allllll over!
