Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marat Magomedov (ranked 678 p4p, 91 weight class) and Tommy Gavin (ranked 407 p4p, 54 weight class). Magomedov comes into the arena with Evangelion OST - The Beast II blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tommy Gavin!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Magomedov throws a half hearted mid kick.
Magomedov pushes Gavin up against the cage in a clinch.
Gavin doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gavin misses with a body punch.
Magomedov has hold of one of Gavin's legs. Gavin is fighting the takedown attempt but Magomedov gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Gavin has momentary wrist control but Magomedov slips an elbow through the middle.
Magomedov throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Gavin is pulling down on Magomedov's head to control his posture.
Magomedov throws a big elbow that misses.
Magomedov stands and throws Gavin's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Magomedov sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Gavin is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Gavin tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Magomedov misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Gavin tries to escape but Magomedov is in control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gavin is trying to control Magomedov's posture but Magomedov avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Magomedov tries to score with some ground and pound. Gavin controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Magomedov has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Gavin!
Magomedov misses with a head shot.
Gavin is in all sorts of trouble here.
Magomedov unloads with some shots from mount but Gavin bucks and avoids them well.
Gavin wants to control but Magomedov is having none of it.
Magomedov wants to control the pace but Gavin is squirming around nicely.
Magomedov lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Magomedov lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
It looks like Tommy Gavin has been cut.
Gavin is bucking up trying to escape but Magomedov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Gavin tries to hold on but Magomedov postures up.

The cut above Tommy Gavin's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gavin manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.
Magomedov is trying to control the action in half guard but Gavin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Magomedov thows a huge punch but Gavin dodges it nicely.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Gavin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Magomedov is working away from the top position though.
Gavin is looking for a sweep. Magomedov is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Magomedov connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Tommy Gavin's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tommy Gavin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Marat Magomedov!
Marat Magomedov was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
