PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Royal Pain (ranked 1294 p4p, 163 weight class) and Chang Thong Song (ranked 1069 p4p, 133 weight class). Pain comes into the arena with AC/DC Thunderstruck blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royal Pain! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chang Thong Song! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pain throws an overhand right that lands on Thong Song's shoulder, as Thong Song tries to avoid the shot. Thong Song throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Pain's head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Pain is defended easily by Thong Song. Pain connects with a looping right hand.
Thong Song fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Pain closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Thong Song is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Thong Song is not content to let Pain control the position. Thong Song has his hands clasped together around Pain's back. He's all about the action. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Pain connects with a nice short shot to Thong Song's temple. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Thong Song gets full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thong Song is adopting a defensive guard. Thong Song is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Thong Song has his foot on Pain's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pain works his way back into a safe position though. Pain is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Pain trying to control but Thong Song is working from the bottom. Pain postures up in Thong Song's guard and throws a big left but Thong Song blocks it. Thong Song looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pain scoring with punches to the head and body. Thong Song wants to sweep but no luck. Pain keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Thong Song's head. Pain is in close to Thong Song's body, working some short punches and elbows. Pain chips away with some ground and pound. Pain throwing strikes from guard but Thong Song blocks nicely. Pain has gone for a leg lock! Thong Song slips out almost immediately though and dives into Pain's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thong Song won't allow Pain to sweep him here. Thong Song postures up.
Pain wants to improve his position but instead Thong Song has moved into half guard.
Pain is not content to let Thong Song control the position. Pain tries to get to full guard but Thong Song has control of the leg. Thong Song is trying to control. Pain wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Pain is looking to improve his position.
Thong Song works his way into full mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thong Song looking to finish Pain with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pain! Pain really wants to buck Thong Song off and get back to his feet. Pain tries to improve his position but Thong Song has taken his back! Thong Song has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Pain tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Thong Song pushes Pain away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chang Thong Song! Chang Thong Song very nearly forgot to thank Red Light Coffeeshop amongst all the excitement of his win but just as the interview came to a close, he screamed their name. Hopefully he'll get a few nice freebies in the mail as a thank you. In defeat, Royal Pain stepped up to the mic, saying 'Shit, there goes my chance to be like Mike.'.
