Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeff Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gabriel Skrarski! The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Skrarski as Diaz shoots in. Skrarski looks to throw the jab but Diaz is out of range. Skrarski throws a nice looking combination but Diaz bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Skrarski throws a right hand that Diaz ducks under and follows up with a left that Diaz also avoids with ease. We've been hearing reports that Diaz has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Skrarski misses with a double jab
and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into guard. Diaz postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Diaz throws a big right hand that misses. Skrarski looking to hit a scissor sweep but Diaz is one step ahead there. Skrarski tries to strike from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Skrarski wants to sweep here but Diaz controlling him for the moment. Diaz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skrarski keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully. Diaz is really struggling to control Skrarski but he's trying to hold on to the position. Skrarski had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Diaz defends it easily. Diaz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Skrarski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Diaz tries to free his leg and advance position but Skrarski is retaining full guard. Diaz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Diaz pushes down on Skrarski's leg and manages to get into half guard. Diaz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Diaz is looking to advance position but Skrarski won't allow it. Skrarski gets full guard. Diaz working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Skrarski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz has gone for a leg lock! Skrarski slips out almost immediately though and dives into Diaz's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Skrarski accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Skrarski throwing strikes from guard but Diaz blocks nicely.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Skrarski defends well. Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diaz throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Skrarski escapes and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control! Diaz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Skrarski off and has taken his back! Skrarski defends a prolonged rear naked choke attempt and turns nicely into his opponent's guard. Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Skrarski postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Diaz has his foot on Skrarski's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Skrarski works his way back into a safe position though. Skrarski lands a couple of digs. Diaz keeping full guard, as Skrarski tries to pass. Skrarski postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Skrarski connects with a couple of short punches. Skrarski throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Diaz works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Skrarski is looking to work some ground and pound but Diaz has wrist control. Skrarski looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Gabriel Skrarski will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Diaz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Skrarski. Skrarski throws a combination. Diaz tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Skrarski scores with a decent looking hook. Skrarski shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Diaz drops down looking for a counter takedown but Skrarski sprawls and moves away. Diaz closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Skrarski to the mat! Skrarski manages to get full guard. Diaz chips away with some ground and pound. Diaz chips away with some ground and pound. Diaz wants to control from the top but Skrarski keeps moving. Diaz won't allow Skrarski to sweep him here. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diaz accidentally thumps the mat. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Skrarski seems keen to control Diaz's posture. Diaz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Diaz stays in close to Skrarski's body and controls the position. Diaz wants to control from the top but Skrarski keeps moving. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Skrarski closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Skrarski lands in his opponent's guard. Skrarski lands a couple of decent looking shots. Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Skrarski is aware though and is defending well. Skrarski content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Skrarski postures up and lands a big shot to Diaz's brow. Skrarski with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Diaz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Skrarski has his hands clasped together but Diaz extends and breaks Skrarski's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Diaz.
