Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Armando Guthrie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick ODowd! The judges for this bout are James Glass, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guthrie shoots in and gets a takedown into ODowd's guard. ODowd is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Guthrie dives into side control.
ODowd tries to improve position but can't. ODowd on the wrong end of some ground and pound. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Guthrie gets to mount! ODowd was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Guthrie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. ODowd looks a forlorn figure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Guthrie looking to control and managing it successfully. Guthrie putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. ODowd flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Guthrie controlling from the full mount. Guthrie has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Guthrie fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
ODowd in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Guthrie controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. ODowd wants to hold on but Guthrie pushes him away. Guthrie is going oldschool here, as he tries to force ODowd to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so ODowd shrugs it off. Guthrie controlling from the full mount. Guthrie is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Guthrie!
