Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim Smithers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phal Um (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smithers comes to the cage accompanied by Metallica - No Leaf Clover. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Smithers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Um connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Um shoots in and bounces Smithers off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Um seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Um trying to control but Smithers is working from the bottom.
Smithers is striking off his back. Um thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.
Um takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Smithers tries to roll over but Um keeps him under control.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
I looks like Um might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smithers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Um is taking a breather. Smithers says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Despite being in the dominant position, Phal Um just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Smithers gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Um fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Smithers lands a nice knee to the body.
Smithers is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Um pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Smithers unloads with some shots from mount but Um bucks and avoids them well.
Um holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Smithers tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Um fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smithers looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Smithers tries to move into range but Um moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Smithers throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Um cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Um counters with a lovely straight right hand!

and Um counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smithers thinking.

Um lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Um thows a left - swing and a miss!
Um punishes Smithers's body with a nice straight punch.
Um looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smithers is fending him off so far but Um persists. Nope, Smithers circles away and we're back to standing.

Smithers takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Um throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Um shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smithers as he jumps to the side.

Smithers is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Um's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Um's back!

Smithers is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Um defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Um rolls, trying to escape but Smithers keeps control of the position.

Phal Um comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Um winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
