PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Petties (ranked 6226 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Jones (ranked 7672 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Will Jones is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brandon Petties!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Will Jones!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petties digs a good body shot into Jones's ribs.
Jones takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Petties.
Jones displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Petties.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones tries to pull guard but Petties holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Petties smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Petties tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Petties to the ground. Petties escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Petties is looking to counter the offense by Jones and move into the clinch.
Brandon Petties has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Will Jones.
Jones looks winded!
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Petties tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Petties manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
It looked like Petties was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Petties tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jones defends well and Petties ends up having to push Jones into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but Petties pushes him off.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Petties is defended easily by Jones.
Good leg kick by Petties there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Petties tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones unleashes a big counter combination but Petties bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Petties shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Petties changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Petties manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
As Petties backs off Jones throws a huge counter combo but Petties manages to avoid it all.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Petties counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jones won't be happy with that.
Petties trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones can't do much from the bottom here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Petties looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jones is trying to escape the position but Petties is controlling the position.
Jones is not content to let Petties control the position.
Jones struggling a bit here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Petties is defended easily by Jones.
Petties shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Petties on that attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Petties dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Petties's head and hops out.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.

Jones gets a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Will Jones will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Petties is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Jones.
Brandon Petties is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Petties moves into the clinch.
Petties tries to pull guard but Jones forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Petties looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jones seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Petties is looking to escape.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Petties fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Petties darts in looking for a takedown but Jones gets double underhooks and turns Petties into the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Petties shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Petties moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off.
Petties slips a jab and a cross from Jones.
Petties seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Nice sprawl there from Jones as Petties shoots in.
Petties avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones looks to land a combination but Petties avoids it well.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Petties.
Jones throws a push kick but Petties slaps the foot to one side.
Petties shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Jones clinches up against the cage.
Petties is trying to break the clinch but Jones has him pressed against the cage.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Will Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Petties wants to take a breather but Jones manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Petties.

I would just about give that final round to Will Jones.
I've got Jones winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
