Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mordecai Sackett (ranked 17 p4p, 2 weight class) and Serge Spectre (ranked 33 p4p, 7 weight class). Spectre is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by For Heavy Metal we will die!. Serge Spectre has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Mordecai Sackett's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mordecai Sackett! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
32 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Serge Spectre! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Sam Margolis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sackett throws an overhand right that lands on Spectre's shoulder, as Spectre tries to avoid the shot. Spectre wants to slow Sackett down by chopping away at his legs. Spectre turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Nice takedown defense from Sackett. No joy for Spectre on that attempt. Sackett has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Spectre lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Sackett showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Spectre.
Sackett displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Spectre throws out the jab. Spectre throws a hook to the side of Sackett's head but Sackett sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Spectre thows a left - swing and a miss! Sackett fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Spectre is out of range. And Spectre tries to counter it with a takedown but Sackett pushes his down on his head and steps out. Sackett moves out of range of the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Spectre misses with the body kick and Sackett counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Sackett takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
A big right from Sackett misses. A little jabbing left from Spectre on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Spectre with a lazy takedown attempt and Sackett counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Spectre throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Sackett to counter with a crisp jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spectre throws out a loose jab but Sackett uses good head movement to avoid it. Nice shot lands for Spectre. Sackett gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Spectre. Spectre pivots, looking for a leg kick but Sackett is out of range and Spectre settles back down. Sackett with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Spectre's jab looks to have found its range, popping Sackett under the eye. Spectre keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sackett. Sackett misses with a low kick.
Spectre tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Spectre misses with a hook. Sackett ducked under it nicely. Jab from Sackett. Nice jab there from Spectre. Spectre throws an off balance right hand
and Sackett counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A solid leg kick lands there for Sackett.
Spectre lands the left hand. Sackett uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Spectre. Sackett digs a good hook to Spectre's body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jab, jab by Sackett - just one landing. Spectre throws a leg kick but Sackett sees it coming and moves out of range. Sackett defending well as Spectre loads up on a big left hand. It looked like Sackett wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Spectre shoots for a takedown but Sackett saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A counter left hand to the body from Sackett misses its target. Mordecai Sackett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Serge Spectre. Sackett lands with a good body shot. A good leg kick by Sackett. A left and a right from Spectre both land. Nice combination. Spectre on the wrong end of a nice jab. Spectre uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Sackett has time to react. Sackett takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Spectre misses with a few strikes there.
Sackett appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Sackett scores with a punch to the head. Nice defenses there by Spectre. Spectre lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sackett misses with a hook to the body
and Spectre counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A jab from Spectre misses. Mordecai Sackett is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spectre steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Sackett. That one must have hurt. Spectre is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Sackett had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Spectre lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Spectre throws a hook but Sackett avoids it easily. Spectre stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Sackett takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Spectre jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Sackett lands with an uppercut that bounces Spectre off the cage and back into range. Spectre throws a lazy uppercut
and Sackett counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Sackett moves forwards but Spectre connects with a nice, crisp jab. Spectre is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Sackett moves away from the strike by Spectre. Spectre scores with a shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Spectre. Sackett does a little dance to reset his feet. Sackett lands a lovely overhand right. Spectre misses with a hook to the body
letting Sackett counter with a right hand.
Spectre is rocked!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Spectre dodges the punch combination from Sackett.
Spectre is still on wobbly legs! Can Sackett finish him? Spectre gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sackett counters with a stiff jab, followed by a cross and an uppercut! That's too much punishment for Spectre to take - he tumbles to the canvas, blood pouring from his nose, barely conscious. That's the end of the fight! Great knockout by Sackett!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Mordecai Sackett! Mordecai Sackett retains his lightweight title! Mordecai Sackett bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
