Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Shaolin (ranked 5256 p4p, 580 weight class) and Mikal Rubikov (ranked 5040 p4p, 567 weight class). Mikal Rubikov is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shogun Shaolin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mikal Rubikov!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rubikov moves into range and clinches up with Shaolin.
Rubikov lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Shaolin wants a takedown.
Rubikov landing knees to the body.
Rubikov swings wildly with an uppercut but Shaolin uses good head movement to avoid it.

Shaolin has clasped his hands together around Rubikov's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Rubikov is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Shaolin is controlling him well.
Shaolin working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Rubikov wants to get back to his feet but Shaolin drags him back down.

Shaolin tries for a kimura but Rubikov is defending well.
Rubikov is looking for a sweep.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Shaolin is working Rubikov over with some ground and pound from side control.
Rubikov wants to get back to his feet but Shaolin drags him back down.
Shaolin is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rubikov is trying to buck Shaolin off.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubikov manages to get back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Shaolin seems content to control.

Shaolin seems to be working for a kimura but Rubikov defends the submission attempt.

Shaolin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Rubikov wants to get back to his feet.
Shaolin slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shaolin missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Shaolin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rubikov sees it coming and defends easily.
Rubikov is trying to stand back up but Shaolin is controlling him
Rubikov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Rubikov wants to get back to full guard.
Rubikov tries to kick Shaolin off but Shaolin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Shaolin has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Shaolin is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Shaolin looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Shaolin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Shaolin prevents Rubikov from standing back up.
Shaolin wants to free his trapped foot but Rubikov is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Shaolin controlling the action here.
Shaolin lands with a punch from half guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rubikov has eaten all the pies!
Rubikov pushes Shaolin off looking to stand but Shaolin dives back in and keeps control.
Shaolin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Shaolin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Shaolin controlling the action here.
Shaolin prevents Rubikov from standing back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shaolin lands with a punch from half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Shaolin lands a nice short elbow.
Rubikov is looking to escape.
Shaolin landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Shaolin stops Rubikov from getting back to his feet.
Rubikov has hold of Shaolin's hands but Shaolin slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.


Rubikov is rocked!
Shaolin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shaolin lands a big elbow - Rubikov is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Shaolin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Shogun Shaolin!
