Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Egon Graumuller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Sullivan! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sullivan scores with a nice right hand.
Graumuller moves out of range of the body kick from Sullivan.
Sullivan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Sullivan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Graumuller rushes Sullivan and presses him up against the cage. Graumuller tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Graumuller is trying to maintain a safe position but Sullivan gets an underhook and turns Graumuller into the cage. Sullivan is trying to break the clinch but Graumuller has him pressed against the cage. Sullivan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sullivan is looking to break free of the clinch but Graumuller has double underhooks. Graumuller keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sullivan's efforts to push away. Sullivan is trying to push Graumuller away but Graumuller has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Sullivan tries to break free but Graumuller pushes him back against the cage. Sullivan wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
We've been hearing reports that Graumuller has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Sullivan tries to break the clinch but Graumuller is controlling the position. Graumuller keeps control of Sullivan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Graumuller has Sullivan pressed against the cage, preventing Sullivan from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Graumuller keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sullivan's efforts to push away. Graumuller throws a knee to the head but misses.
Graumuller changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sullivan fights it off and pushes away nicely.
No luck for Graumuller with that takedown attempt. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Sullivan throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sullivan scores with a kick to the midsection. Left hook, right uppercut from Sullivan. Sullivan throws a nice outside leg kick. Oooooh!!! Sullivan has knocked Graumuller down with a huge combo! Sullivan steps away and waves a wobbly Graumuller back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Graumuller is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sullivan throws a head kick but Graumuller moves out of range.
Oh Graumuller is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Graumuller gets hit by the mother of all head kicks and drops to the canvas in a crumpled heap! Woooow, the Internet is going to be talking about this one for weeks!
