Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lil D!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johny Hendricks!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hendricks lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Lil D has been cut.
Lil D seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
D closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hendricks to the mat! Hendricks manages to get full guard.
Hendricks wants to stand up but D is controlling him.
Hendricks avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
D working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hendricks's head.
D in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
D wants to control from the top but Hendricks keeps moving.
D is pushing down on Hendricks's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hendricks is fighting to maintain full guard but D has managed to sneak the leg through.
D is trying to work for a kimura but Hendricks is defending well.
D seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hendricks does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Hendricks is looking to escape.
D is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hendricks defends it well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Hendricks paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
A right-left combo lands from Hendricks.
D is breathing heavily.
D seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Hendricks shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! D is backing up but Hendricks catches him with a final right hook that drops him! D covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Hendricks Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:34 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johny Hendricks!
