Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Conford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kaz McStafferson! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Conford catches McStafferson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Conford with a body punch. A glancing blow. McStafferson with a poor takedown and Conford cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Conford fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Conford lands with a good body shot. McStafferson takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Kaz McStafferson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Conford misses with a wild combination.
McStafferson feints the counter takedown. McStafferson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Conford's waist but Conford gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McStafferson off to one side. McStafferson misses with a two punch combination.
Conford lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
It looks like Kaz McStafferson has been cut. Conford definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. McStafferson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McStafferson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. McStafferson trying to control the position from guard on top but Conford is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Conford not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Conford is looking for a triangle but McStafferson pushes his legs off easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. McStafferson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. McStafferson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McStafferson is pushing down on Conford's leg trying to pass to half guard. Conford is fighting to maintain full guard but McStafferson has managed to sneak the leg through. McStafferson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
McStafferson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Conford wants to get back to his feet.
Conford wants to get back to full guard. McStafferson is trying to work for a kimura but Conford is defending well.
McStafferson is pressing down on Conford's thigh, looking to free his foot. Conford is holding on for now.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McStafferson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Conford defend it? McStafferson steps over the head and cranks it - Conford is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for McStafferson!
