Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anatoly Gorbachenko!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorbachenko scores with a jab. Johnson acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Johnson misses the body punch
and Gorbachenko counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gorbachenko misses with a right hand
letting Johnson counter with a right hand.
Gorbachenko takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A looping hook to the body misses from Johnson. Gorbachenko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Gorbachenko wants to counter the offense by Johnson and move into the clinch position.
Gorbachenko keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Johnson loads up on a big right hand but Gorbachenko slips the punch.
Johnson throws a sloppy body shot

and Gorbachenko counters with a crisp one two that drops Johnson! Gorbachenko thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Johnson to his feet! Johnson is in big trouble!


Johnson is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gorbachenko.
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Johnson seems to have got his legs back now.
Johnson takes a swing at Gorbachenko's ribcage but misses.
Gorbachenko throws out a counter right but Johnson avoids it with no problem.

and Gorbachenko holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Johnson tries to work over Gorbachenko's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Johnson misses with a hook to the ribs.
Gorbachenko lands a nice uppercut.
Gorbachenko lands a right hand that snaps the head of Johnson backwards.

Gorbachenko manages to break the clinch.
Johnson throws a hook but Gorbachenko avoids it easily.
Johnson is looking to wear down Gorbachenko with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Gorbachenko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A little feinted left hand from Johnson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Gorbachenko to counter with a crisp jab.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gorbachenko lunges at Johnson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Johnson's hand.
Gorbachenko has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Gorbachenko uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Johnson.
Johnson looks to throw the jab but Gorbachenko is out of range.
Gorbachenko is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Gorbachenko closes the distance and clinches.
Johnson misses with the head strike.
Gorbachenko blocks a body shot from Johnson.
Gorbachenko lands on the inside with an uppercut.
The referee calls for Gorbachenko to work.
Johnson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gorbachenko fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Gorbachenko scores with a nice short uppercut.

Gorbachenko lands with a light punch inside.
Gorbachenko scores with a shoulder strike.
Gorbachenko misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Gorbachenko manages to break the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Johnson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Gorbachenko misses with a two punch combination.

Gorbachenko misses with a double jab.
Gorbachenko cracks Johnson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Gorbachenko avoids the body shot from Johnson.
Johnson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Johnson throws a body punch but Gorbachenko moves out of range.
A swing and a miss from Gorbachenko.
Gorbachenko connects with a left and a right that sees a clearly hurt Johnson covering up! Gorbachenko comes in with a big uppercut and Johnson goes doooown! He's slumped up against the cage, eyes staring blankly into space.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Anatoly Gorbachenko!
Anatoly Gorbachenko tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
