Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kirill Miroshnichenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Khaled Al Khuzeem! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Miroshnichenko fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Miroshnichenko throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Al Khuzeem. Nice sprawl there from Al Khuzeem as Miroshnichenko shoots in. Al Khuzeem is trying hard to land a takedown here. Miroshnichenko sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Al Khuzeem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Miroshnichenko moves out of range of the body kick. As Al Khuzeem tries to get set, Miroshnichenko tries to push him back and clinch up but Al Khuzeem manages to avoid the attempt. Al Khuzeem manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Miroshnichenko on his heels. He'll look to pass Miroshnichenko's guard now, I'm sure. Al Khuzeem thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Al Khuzeem works over Miroshnichenko with some ground and pound from guard. Al Khuzeem has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Al Khuzeem trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Al Khuzeem is in close to Miroshnichenko's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's one minute gone in the round. Al Khuzeem thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Al Khuzeem has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Miroshnichenko is proving hard to escape from. Al Khuzeem scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Al Khuzeem postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Miroshnichenko covers up, he's hurt! Al Khuzeem keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Al Khuzeem and the ref steps in to end the fight! Al Khuzeem can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Khaled Al Khuzeem!
